The new 600 lumen Surefire G2X light can fit many different roles; here I test it’s durability, compare the output with the Streamlight PolyTac X USB & G2X MaxVision light, then go over it’s features and what I think of it overall.

  1. Its not certain that this will have a programmed stepdown. I think 600 lumens is in range of what 2xCR123 can safely continuously output with current emitters. Newer emitters are very efficient. Even the older P2x fury was 500 lumens and had no step-down. I hope someone does a runtime graph for these. I really like the g2x design. I still have one of the very first 200 lumen models.

  2. Own three of these from your recommendation in 2013
    3k rounds on my trap/HD Mossberg 500
    7k rounds on a 6920 Block 1 Clone build
    3k on a WASR-10
Three different lights all function perfect still, Buy from BigTexOutdoors if anyone picks one up hes a legit Surefire dealer and you won't get a fake like Amazon sells sometimes.. ASK ME HOW I KNOW

  3. With quality mounts, use these as weapon lights. Then as output goes up through the years, replace with new light, demote old light to hand carry. Been doing this for years. Advantage over dedicated weapon lights.

  4. I contacted Surefire about using rechargeable batteries in my G2X LE and they recommended K2 Energy batteries that are advertised on their website. I'd imagine you could use some rechargeable batteries as long as they come from a reputable company. Thank you for doing what you do Mike.

  5. Excellent review as always. But in the era of Fenix, Anker, Nitecore and many others, Surefire has become overpriced relative to the competition. And Surefire's unwillingness to join the 18650 battery revolution leaves them farther in the dust. When I got into flashlights 25 years ago, the Surefire 6P was the best of the best at a mere 60 lumens of incan light. A bulb would last 10 hours, and break if you dropped it. But the days of Surefire being a class leader are long gone. While the G2X is reasonably priced, it is the exception to the rule.

  6. I bought this light when I was in the police academy and loved it, where some of the other cadets went cheap and couldn't see anything I was able to identify object and our instructors from about 75m away with ease. It now rides on my AR pistol and still haven't had an issue with it.

  7. These lights are awesome with a 16650, not 18650(won't fit) if you don't want to buy cr123's. Also, you have one of the early 600 lumen G2X's. They no longer ship with the forward click switch like you have. I had to get mine warrantied(switch like yours) because I semi broke it and they sit me the momentary only and twist to keep turned on switch. I contacted Surefire and they told me this was the switch that ships with the G2X tactical now(less great for WML applications because you can't rotate switches on a rifle…). However once I told them mine had a different switch they sent me the correct one bc surefire is awesome. Thanks for the review.

  8. Wish you gun channels would upload to Bitchute also .. I'd chip in a few bucks to watch there. No way in HELL I'm helping fund anything on this Google Censorship Ghetto. We have great alternatives to this hateful Google platform so why not use them? Great channel man .. wish I could support your work but will always run an Adblocker here also .. will NEVER help fund EVIL Google. Full30 won't work with the laptop, tried different browsers, no support so can't support them either. Bitchute man.

  9. I just tested and the old style tail caps from the similar plastic surefire lights (don't remember what the model number is), the ones from the early 2000s, before they started using LEDs, it fit and works on these new g2x lights. They have the feature like James Yeager endorses, they have a button on back that doesn't click on, it's momentary and if you want it to stay on you twist it closed. I'm going to try for a couple weeks and see if I like it.

  10. Just wanna say you're honestly one of the best content creators I know. God bless you, brother! No one else spends as much time replying to comments on your videos and other's videos than you do! Thanks for all of the work you put into this channel!

  11. Love your channel, but please know that Surefire is a ripoff. They overcharge for underpowered outdated LED technology with mediocre user interface options for the user. My suggestion as a "flashaholic" is Olight if you want one of the very best flashlights / gun light , specifically the Valkeryie PL-2 / Baldr for gun lights. For other superior flashlight brands than Surefire, there's also Nitecore, Jetbeam, and Thrunite. Thanks for the vid.

  12. Have been using rechargeable 16650s for three years now for my G2X Pro 320 lumens model and the light still functions well. Although I think the output is a bit lower but not noticeable due to the Lithium ion cell having a nominal voltage of 3.7V while two new CR123s have a total of 6V (3V x 2). The 17670 cell can't fit in the light though.

  13. Do you know how this current gen light compares to the previous gen P2X Fury Tactical 600 Lumen model? They seem to have the same specs on paper but I'm wondering if one of them has less candela/less spill or something like that.
