This Flashlight Review:

No matter how well things are made, eventually things break. Sometimes it is because they have worn out after years of use, or perhaps they broke before they should have, due to a faulty part.

Recently while filming a video review on my Streamlight ProTac 1L 1AA flashlight, it broke. And by broke, I mean it wouldn’t function with the CR123 batteries it is supposed to function with. The light was relatively new and not abused, so I reached out to Streamlight to see about their Warranty Policy. I think they handed it pretty well…

  1. I have several Streamlights had an issue with a PT 2LX. Called CS and since they are 20 minutes up the road. Drove up and waited about 15 minutes to have the end cap button replaced. Folks there were very nice. Beat the snot out of their gear while duck and goose hunting. Great performance.

  2. I've got 2 strion hl and a pro tac hl-usb. being a mechanic, they all hit a concrete floor multiple times over multiple years. haven't had to deal with customer service so far. good thing about streamlight, 1 in a million might be bad, but that 2nd one you get is going to be the one of 999,999 that are good. Unless of course, you happen to be that guy that always finds the lemon in the bobbing barrel.

  3. I use to work a part time job at UHaul in customer service and one day while inspecting a truck I found an absolutely abused and beaten streamlight strion that someone left inside long ago. Needless to say, this thing barely had any paint left on the aluminum and possessed more chips and dents than I could count. I went home and threw it on my piggyback charger for my other streamlight and what do you know, this thing still worked flawlessly and I still use it to this day. Great lights and a great company.

  4. Big Streamlight fan, I non-intentionally abuse all of my lights (Corrections). The only light that ever gave up the ghost was a ProTac 1L, when it became more advantageous to be used as a projectile than a signaling device.

Would you be able to discuss your choice in weapon mounted lights?

  5. I had a ProTac2L with "silver brushed finish" (scratched and used well), lost it and did not find it. Someone had a good find that day. Bought another and still happy with my purchase. Almost forgot they came in black after having my "silver brushed edition" for several years.

  6. I have had no fewer than 5 Streamlights fail on me, including 2 PT1L's and a PT2L.  One of them failed three days after I bought it, after zero use other than clicking it on a couple times.  Yes, their customer service and return policy were excellent, and they always replaced them no-questions-asked.  However, after a while I got tired of the hassle of frequently having to mail them back and forth.  These days I only buy lites from a brand I know I can trust!

  7. A partner of mine got into a foot chase one night. He threw his Streamlight SL20 at the suspect. The press fitted head of state the flashlight came off. Streamlight said they had never seen that happen. A quick phone call and a new light was shipped out. They only wanted to look at the broken light, and sent that back to him a week or so later. Awesome customer service.
