Any advice on trying to get out a stuck roll pin for a forward assist? I was installing a Strike Industries forward assist and the roll pin seemed to "open up" and is now stuck like crazy. Any opinions or tips?
Is the Troy rail lighter than the mil spec hand guard ?
Hello,
I'm a big fan of your videos. However, I thought I'd pass along some tips I've discovered. I feel like it's a really good idea to place a little anti-seize compound on the threads when you install the barrel nut. Also, I like to put a little lithium grease on the forward assist spring.
rail do you like best MI or the troy ?
really enjoyed the instruction. Â I'll have to watch it a few more times and save it for future use. Â Very easy to understand.
So i just got my alpha rail in the mail today. I decided to not buy an after market low profile gas block. Will a dremel work to cut down the front sight block? I have a large cut off wheel but I feel like itd be easier to use a dremel since its smaller and easier for me to control. Also would it be okay to remove and install the muzzle device with out using a vice? I know itd be a lot easier but i dont have the block for my upper. I heard you can warp or twist your receiver if you dont?
How important is putting grease on the barrel extension, practically? Also, is checking the head space a must if using quality mil spec parts (I'm starting a build with BCM components)? Thanks.
Geissele MK2. Challengers welcome. 😉
Thanks.
nice build…nearly identical to one i did for myself …including the barrel , i used a ubr stock instead…the rail has since been swapped for a samson evolution so i could use the troy on my carbine..cool stuff
Not if you shave it down, no.
So I am currently using a mid length A2 gas block, am I understanding that to install the Troy alpha rail I would not need a low profile gas block?
I'm mobile so I can't rewatch the video but I think it's a 15'' rail on a 20'' barrel.
can't access the descriptions,idk why,but is that a 16" barrel?
if so,what is the alpha rail? I would doitmyself, but my muzzle is pinned.
Either is fine. I actually have a video up on installing a muzzle device if you want more info on in.
Honestly it's totally a personal preference thing. I like MBUS' and have them on most of my ARs but others hate them. Just personal preference I suppose.
Haha yeah. I found it in FDE with integrated flip front sight for $217. Same place has the VTAC like I've seen on your rifles for $186. I think I would like the VTAC feel a little better but I like the integrated front sight instead of just a magpul front on a VTAC. What do you think?
Damn that sucks!
Nice vid bro. Im drooling over the alpha rail with integral front flip up sight. I found it on clearance online and cant wait to get the cash to get it haha.
That's crazy. Certainly plausible though.
put in my new BCG, charged it, gas tube pops out. disassembled the free float and found PSA didnt put in the gas block/tube roll pin. will be using this when they send me the pin.
Agreed.
I really don't think there are 'reliability issues associated with the DI.' I think it's 95% user error, 4% poor spec'd guns/gun parts, and 1% legit gun related issues.
Nothing wrong with pistons; they do run cleaner. But, they weigh more and can have compatibility issues.
It sucks……. but it is what it is. Hopefully not for much longer
Ya I looked up the parts it's a lot more.
