  1. Good video. Pretty straight forward and simplified with common tools. I especially like the beat up hammer (mines an old tack hammer) and screw driver. Just goes to show you don't have to shell out a lot of money for tools to assemble the lower.

  2. Concerning staking the castle nut. Some are fastidious about that. Instead of using a center punch and a large hammer, I used a spring-loaded center punch. I center punched it about 50 to 80 times to get it properly staked and not bashed with a hammer as I have seen. Delicate and precise.

  3. That little hole where the detent and the spring go in for the safety can be threaded with a
4-40 tap and a set screw to hold the spring assembly in place while assembling the buffer tube assembly. Also great for when the buffer tube may need to be removed. All stays in place. No fuss, no muss.

  4. The cool tool used to put the detent (sp) and spring for the front pivot pin may not be available to all. Get a 1/4" steel rod and drill a hole transversely through it and it can work just like that "cool tool". Compress the spring and detant through the hole in the rod, then insert the new tool and turn one quarter to hold the spring assembly in place until the pin is inserted. Once pin is inserted and aligned, push it through and it will "pop" in to place. I have seen that assembly launch into the nether-reaches of my garage. Very bad.

  5. I appreciated your build video. The small scratches and possible damage and even as you stated, breaks to the lower ear onto where the trigger guard attaches, I used a method that prevents this. First, on the roll pins I use needle nose or some other pliers to squeeze the end enough to make it easier to enter the hole provide for it. Instead of a hammer (danger awaits you), I used a smaller pair of channel lock pliers with electric tape wrapped on the jaws to prevent marring. After starting the roll pin, I finish the driving method with the pliers. That way it is like "pressing" into the hole. No tapping, no missing the pin and marring or such. If not all the way driving into the hole, a punch with a backstop on the fragile ear of the lower for support will guard against disaster.

  6. Great video. Watched the one before this also, where you got the Anderson lower and kit. Glad you made all the mistakes first and what you are showing us is the things you have learned to make the job a lot easier. Very well thought out and your narrative was very clear and well spoken.

  7. For anyone who doesn't know, Kotaboy32 has built MANY AR's and has excellent advice. Pay attention! I have built 4 AR's and continue to learn from KB32. Thank you again for the useful information, sir!

  8. Really great video, I will be putting one of these together soon and will be watching this again. I appreciate the close camera work and attention to detail on each phase of the build. Well done Bro!!!
