Went out shooting today with some friends and while I was out there I decided to show how well my CMMG Stainless Steel Conversion kit works in my AR-15. There is a explanation of how the kit is installed, and there is a clip of two rapid fire magazine dumps. I’ve been using Federal Champion Ammo .22lr without any problems. Hope this helps you guys out with deciding wether or not to get one of these kits. My vote is Yes!
You guys can get your own right here.

Did u ducked taped your flashlight? Nice.
the federal bulk pack is the cheapest i'd go. that is what I try and use, and it runs great. CCI minimags and almost all high velocity stuff works. Keep the conversion kit clean especially the feed ramp/chamber area, and rails.
Any particular grain and brand of ammo you found works the best? Looking at it on CTD dot com, seems they recommend 36 grain bullets. I will be using an 18" DMPS, MK12 bull barrel 1/8" on a AR build of mine. Thanks for the info.
it will depend on your rifle and ammo. a little less accurate then a 10/22 but not much. it's pretty accurate within 50 yards and more.
how accurate is it compared to a regular .22lr rifle, say a 10/22?
bonfire snowboarding jacket.
What kind of jacket is the you're wearing?
Yes it was cold, and from one you-tuber to another I hope you get fucking Parkinson's disease.
no, just the .22lr bolt conversion, and magazines. your standard charging handle should work.
When you got your kit did you get a charging handle with it.
try clean everything but wipe it down really good. the extra lube may gum up the action. also try some CCI Minimags or a quality .22lr ammo for the first 100 rounds or so. sometimes the action needs quality ammo to break in the moving parts. I treat all my new guns and new gun parts this way. test it, then test it some more.
I shot mine the first time today using the Federal ammo. Had a lot of jamming,I am going to lube it and see if that takes care of the problem.
that has since been fixed. there is a proper light and mount on there now.
Nice flashlight mount!
Good video!!!
@ttboy2004 it reccommed to take the piston out
@TexasDistortion how is the 22lr upper working out for you and is it cmmg or some other.cause i wouldn't risk getting my 556 upper all dirty and fucked up from 22lr.so i want a full upper..thanks
Is it pretty accurate
@ttboy2004 ya, had a friend put one in his ruger sr and it was fine. they run off of recoil blowback. Just a heads up tho, the do get dirty fast.
will these work in a gas piston AR
Awesome vid man.. Ive been looking into getting a SW M&P 15-22 because I was worried that maybe these CMMG conversion kits wouldnt work well on my SW M&P15, but now that I see someone else with my same rifle I might just get that CMMG instead. Saves me half of what I would pay for an actual M&P15-22. Thanks!
@ZombieReady556 so i jus picked up the same kit, and the mags have to be forced in, and its a bitch getting them back out.. any tips? i got a spikes lower
@ZombieReady556 cool thanks
@papichu10 No issues ever. I've used it in three different AR's and only issues caused by using rimfire ammunition. Which you can't get away from. The flashlight has since been put in a proper mount.
lol nice tape job on ur flash light.. ummim thinkin of getting one of these… have u had problems since?? and do other mags fit?

@srvanddt1 I haven't shot this set up for accuracy, but it's not going to be as good as a dedicated .22lr upper with a 1:12 barrel, or whatever the twist rate is. It is able to hit what your aiming at out to about 100 yards. Another benefit is you can shoot steal up close, and have a reduced risk of ricochet.
This is cool and I have the same rifle as you but the question is how accurate is it? With a bigger barrel and a different twist rate I assume it is not as accurate as if you were firing it from a .22 rifle.
@raaudio2 I pick up everything I take out, and the crap the other ass hats don't.
@CharlieDoan valhalla armory online has them, just make sure you order the Stainless Steal version they work much better then the parkerized ones. Also CMMG sells them direct, or a couple other places.
web site to order CMMG?
HOW MUCH IS that kit? and how many magazines come with that unit? What kind of ammo did you feed to that gun and IS that easy to clean the GAS TUBE?? Thanks for INFOS
@IGot556OnIt Have you called CMMG? They have great customer service. What kinda upper is it?

@F35B2009 Exactly! the only other thing you need is the 22lr mags that come with the kit.
So what your saying is all you have to do is put that conversion kit in (that piece of metal ) and you can shoot .22lr out of it? Stick the original in and you can shoot 223? You don't have to change the barrel?
@hemicuda123456 I had just gotten the rifle. I have since fixed that.
why do u have your light taped to your gun u can buy a tac rail that bolts onto you hand guard on cheaperthandirtdotcom for like $12
@gunsnsilver Silverbear was fine. I haven't found anything that won't run 100% through the M&P in .223 or 5.56. Hope you got the SS version of the conversion kit, they just run so much better then the parkerized ones.
@ZombieReady556 Is your conversion kit the Stainless Steel version? If so what brand rifle are you using. I just got back from camping/shooting and haven't cleaned my kit for the last three times out and it fired fine all day.
@CorruptArsenal Yes, I've been using less and less CLP when lubing my carriers though. It doesn't get as dirty and still functions the same. Last time I used the conversion kit it was left dirty for about a month and I stuck it in dry and worked fine.
I would still recommend lubing them though.
@ZombieReady556 I actually went and tried to make a video showing the groups I was getting at 100 yrds but the battery died on me. They were not great about 10-12" at 100yds but I was shooting leaning against my truck for stability, and only have Irons. All shots were on paper, but not great. I did the same thing using 5.56 WWB ammo and had 5-6" groups. I didn't try my hardest to get them tight but that's ball park.
