CMMG Stainless Steel .22LR Conversion Kit for AR-15

Went out shooting today with some friends and while I was out there I decided to show how well my CMMG Stainless Steel Conversion kit works in my AR-15. There is a explanation of how the kit is installed, and there is a clip of two rapid fire magazine dumps. I’ve been using Federal Champion Ammo .22lr without any problems. Hope this helps you guys out with deciding wether or not to get one of these kits. My vote is Yes!

You guys can get your own right here.

  1. the federal bulk pack is the cheapest i'd go. that is what I try and use, and it runs great. CCI minimags and almost all high velocity stuff works. Keep the conversion kit clean especially the feed ramp/chamber area, and rails.

  2. Any particular grain and brand of ammo you found works the best? Looking at it on CTD dot com, seems they recommend 36 grain bullets. I will be using an 18" DMPS, MK12 bull barrel 1/8" on a AR build of mine. Thanks for the info.

  3. try clean everything but wipe it down really good. the extra lube may gum up the action. also try some CCI Minimags or a quality .22lr ammo for the first 100 rounds or so. sometimes the action needs quality ammo to break in the moving parts. I treat all my new guns and new gun parts this way. test it, then test it some more.

  4. Awesome vid man.. Ive been looking into getting a SW M&P 15-22 because I was worried that maybe these CMMG conversion kits wouldnt work well on my SW M&P15, but now that I see someone else with my same rifle I might just get that CMMG instead. Saves me half of what I would pay for an actual M&P15-22. Thanks!

  5. @papichu10 No issues ever. I've used it in three different AR's and only issues caused by using rimfire ammunition. Which you can't get away from. The flashlight has since been put in a proper mount.

  6. @srvanddt1 I haven't shot this set up for accuracy, but it's not going to be as good as a dedicated .22lr upper with a 1:12 barrel, or whatever the twist rate is. It is able to hit what your aiming at out to about 100 yards. Another benefit is you can shoot steal up close, and have a reduced risk of ricochet.

  7. This is cool and I have the same rifle as you but the question is how accurate is it? With a bigger barrel and a different twist rate I assume it is not as accurate as if you were firing it from a .22 rifle.

  8. So what your saying is all you have to do is put that conversion kit in (that piece of metal ) and you can shoot .22lr out of it? Stick the original in and you can shoot 223? You don't have to change the barrel?

  9. @gunsnsilver Silverbear was fine. I haven't found anything that won't run 100% through the M&P in .223 or 5.56. Hope you got the SS version of the conversion kit, they just run so much better then the parkerized ones.

  10. @ZombieReady556 Is your conversion kit the Stainless Steel version? If so what brand rifle are you using. I just got back from camping/shooting and haven't cleaned my kit for the last three times out and it fired fine all day.

  11. @CorruptArsenal Yes, I've been using less and less CLP when lubing my carriers though. It doesn't get as dirty and still functions the same. Last time I used the conversion kit it was left dirty for about a month and I stuck it in dry and worked fine.

I would still recommend lubing them though.

  12. @ZombieReady556 I actually went and tried to make a video showing the groups I was getting at 100 yrds but the battery died on me. They were not great about 10-12" at 100yds but I was shooting leaning against my truck for stability, and only have Irons. All shots were on paper, but not great. I did the same thing using 5.56 WWB ammo and had 5-6" groups. I didn't try my hardest to get them tight but that's ball park.
