A review of the Streamlight Polytac LED C4 130 lumen light. I demonstrate it on several rifles and shotguns to show its’ ability to withstand recoil and do a night time light demonstration.

Streamlight PolyTac light:

Pros:
-Cost. The light can be had for under $35 shipped.
-Uses relatively common CR123 batteries.
-Fits in common 1” mounts.
-It works. So far I all the Polytacs I own have kept on ticking even with use on rifles and shotguns.
-130 C4 LED output. It’s a nice white light with a good peripheral cone.
-Has o rings to seal out water on both the tail cap and lens cap.
-Lightweight. Weighs 4.1oz with batteries.
-Comes in black, coyote, and bright yellow.

Cons:
-1 of the 3 I lights I have flickers slightly under recoil (can be seen at the beginning of the video). Is it a huge issue for SD/HD? Maybe. I really doubt I’d ever shoot in the dark with the light off in a HD/SD situation but for use with night vision devices it’s a different story.
-It’s not as bright as some lights on the market.

  1. Thanks. I bought one. I hope buck and ball loads don’t kill it. Good simple light. I like that it’s a pocket light so if I need one or get the tlr type later I can use it for something else. 35 was ok for it. It’s way better to me than the $20 Mc Star type Amazon fodder.

Good tip about the non recessed switch. I don’t mind on this light.

  2. I've had one of these on my AK for years.

I put it on there when I was a broke, college student. It's held up pretty well to some rough user.

It's going to be replaced with a Surefire eventually, but it does a good enough job that I am in no hurry at all to replace it (I've been saying I was going to replace it for years).

    Great light for the money.

  3. Bought mine couple of months ago. For "The price on sale $34 can't be beat. Using a MOE light mount for an AR, and center light lines up perfectly with scope. Used here in Michigan and is a a great low cost light. I would have paid up to $60 for it.

  4. I know this is an old video but I'm shopping for a light that will mount on my Elzetta shotgun mount that isn't gonna break the bank.  Will this tail cap set up work on my Mossberg 930?  Thanks again dude.

  5. What budget light mount for a shotgun would you recommend pairing this with? Sorry if this is a repeat question, I didn't see anyone ask specifically about a shotgun mount, only AR's.

  6. Hmm….. I never have and the surface of the Polytacs has a little "give" to it which may present problems for paint. I'm a fan of Alumahyde II so I'd probably start there. That said, an aluminum light would likely hold the finish better.
