AR15 / M4 Back up sights:

Your videos are pretty good. I enjoy watching the few I have seen. From a military stand point, back up sights are necessary for "worst case scenario" situations. However, I still cannot get over why so many people in the civilian world. Mainly people who shoot in non life threating situations have them? Granted I run back up sights on all my ARs that have red dots, but I never run them on my ARs with scopes. If it's "a worse case scenario" that its so critical to take my sighted scope off and use back up iron sights something has gone wrong. I can see with a red dot a battery going dead, lollipoping the red dot off the from sight post. But why do you need it on an AR with a scope? Think about it? The normal, non critical, non life threating, everyday shooter at the range does not need to spend extra money on back up sights for a weapon with a scope. It seems silly to me.

How are those scopes with a Front Sight in front of them? Do you see it and does it bother you?

With the magpul rear sight you can fold the aperture down while it is up so you use it for close quarters and its easier to see your optic

I just got my first AR15 Bushmaster flat top without sights. I'm looking at Bushnell first strike vs Truglo trubrite TG8380BN have you ever done a review on these? Do you think these will work good on the AR if so which one do you like better and why?

I'm a big fan of firearms too, but do you think the crimerates in other countries are higher because citizens are not allowed to carry guns?
I'd be more worried about some dude living in the house next to me snapping one day and firing at everyone and everything that moves

@mraycgz I did that but i miss the carry handle look

completely agree with back up sights. my AR didnt come with any iron sights, so i made sure to get them attached as soon as possible. i have a bushnell red dot mounted on 1 inch risers so that in case of it failing, i can just pop up my magpul sights and look straight through the red dot and keep on moving forward.

In your thoughts, are the Back up irons just as reliable as the carry handle set up? i have a Bushmaster I got awhile ago, I have a carry handle for it in my bag and an attached front sight, seeing ammo more of a need than a compact sight I never bothered to upgrade yet.

Were you using the carry handle rail adapter just to demonstrate why mounting an optic on top of the carry handle does not work well? Or is there an application for it? I figure if you bought the adapter, there must be some reason.

Glad to see others that have or like iron back ups sights or co witness sights for real life when Murphy shows up. Many are spending big bucks on optics and have no, none, zero, iron sights. Make no sense to have a fine weapon platform and no way to get accuracy or stay in the fight when batteries or life takes a turn for the worse . As usual you bring in the comedy and common sense we have all come to expect and enjoy. Sootch well done and looking forward to your next great video. Thanks.

I went out this weekend and my Vortex died on me. I was really glad that I had my back up sights.

With the CMR use some high see through sight mounts.

Backup sights are far less needed because of the quality of good optics. although, I do have some since I may as well. Options are nice when they don't weigh much.

@MegaNoobCrew He usually swears by HPR brand ammunition. He has done several reviews on it.

That is some really impressive hardware you have there. You guys really are lucky to be able to get such great gear…. i would love to have an AR or an M14. All we are allowed are ten shot bolt actions…. kind of takes the fun out of it 😛
