I love the Nikon Prostaff line of products!
My favorite pair of binoculars are my 10x Nikon Prostaffs purchased over two years ago. I have been extremely happy with those, so I figured I can not go wrong with putting Prostaff optics atop my new rifle. This was mounted to a Savage 93R17. Now this may seem odd that I purchased this scope, primarily designed for a .22 rimfire on a much more accurate .17hmr, but the reason I purchased it is this is my primary squirrel hunting rifle. Most shots I take are around 50 yards, so the parallax setting of 50yds is more appropriate than the standard 100yrd parallax. This does not mean it is less accurate at 100yds. I can still put three shots in a 1″ grouping relatively easy at 100yds when desired.
Now for the quality. I must say I am just as impressed with the quality of this scope as I was my binoculars. The overall weight and feel of the scope is extremely good, but more importantly the optics are pretty darn good. Considering the price point of this scope as being a nice step up from the standard cheap-o scope brands but not in league with high quality optics, the scope is impressive. I find it to be crystal clear up to 8x. At 9x the image is not unclear, but you do begin to see some purpling arounf the edge of dark edges backed by bright (e.g. sky).
