The Monarch 3 is a scope much further ahead of its price range, and undoubtedly has lens quality comparable to Leupold. I’ll take you through the most in depth review of the Monarch 3 than anyone one on YouTube has so far. I skip filler conversation and get straight to the point as I discuss the quality of the turrets, the build, and go over the items you receive after you purchase your scope.

Specific Model: 5-20X44mm SF

  1. I'm very pleased with my Nikon Monarch 3 2017 model. Easy to use and I've never knocked it off when travelling. Precision quality and clear optics which don't blur on edges. Good detailed review. Thanks

  2. Thanks for reviewing the Monarch 3. I've been debating for over a few weeks, whether or not to get this specific scope. I need two rifle scopes for both my son's Remington .270 & Browning 30-06, however in two different magnifications; 4-16x42mm & 6-24x50mm. I think you certainly showed me what I was looking for. Great features, solid build, and correct geometry @ a very affordable price! Thanks for the in depth video. Nice job!

  3. Hey you know that Nikon has an app. Called Nikon spot on. It works with every scope they ever made and every cal that's made. And bullet home load or factory. Just enter your info. So you would enter in for an example…. Nikon monarch 3 (what ever model you have) a 270 federal 150 soft point zero at 100 yards (or whatever you want for your zero distance). And say the target is at 500 yards and it will tell you. You need to elevate the scope so many clicks. I have one on my 308 and my 243. That app is amazing. It's right on. Just give it a try I mean you can't go wrong it made for these scopes.

  4. I have the same scope in BDC and it Rocks!!! Very accurate, also nice to know where your bullet will land at any distance with a very quick calculation. So would have to disagree with your BDC claim on this model scope (and so would Nikon) see here:

  5. Nice thorough review. Thanks for your time invested and your patient explanation. One small critique would be to lose the UMMM.

I have just purchased the Prostaff 5 3.4-14×40 and know it won't have all the goodies the Monarch does, but am looking forward to the awesome glass that is Nikon.

  6. Much talk lately about FFP (first focal plane) which seems to be the Holy Grail of optics as of late. As a target shooter the 2nd plane is just better because the crosshair doesn't magnify and block your view of a small bullseye. It's only real benefit is in range estimating. As for Nikon I agree they make some kick@$$ glass. Good purchase.

  7. How well do the lens covers work on your scope? I just bought the Monarch 3 2-8×32 and it came with the flip open caps too. However, it takes considerably more effort to open them than what it does to remove them -consequently the caps come off every time I open them.

Nikon will be hearing from me.
