Streamlight Microstream C4: Best EDC Light, Now Better!

I’ve tried a number of flashlights for EDC, but I keep coming back to my Streamlight Microstream. It has the perfect balance of power and portability, it takes just one (very common) AAA battery, and it’s been my go to light for over a year. To my surprise, Streamlight has actually made it better in the new C4 version. The updated, more efficient LED might have been enough, but they decided to do an entire redesign. Other outstanding features include an “S” clip pocket-clip that can be attached to the brim of your hat in an instant, and also a firmer screw-off tail cap that comes with a replacement.

With all of these improvements, you’re not paying any more for this version than you paid for the last, which makes upgrading very tempting.

  1. Now they came out with the usb chargeable microstream usb. It's 350 lumen! On high 80 lumen on low. Check it out Amazon does not have it yet got mine from snap on truck.. I stand corrected . .it is only 250 lumen but that's still fricken bright for such a little light. And making it rechargeable makes it that much better.

  2. Aware you've posted this in 2012, in January of 2018 I've received presumably the latest rendition of this in the lumens race. I guess it has bumped up to 35 after that 28lms you're testing here. And today packaging suggests 45lumens..hooray.
Just wanted to mention it still the same awesome S – clip and lanyard included. However no extra tail cap, I guess it cut into the profit margins somehow. Curious how frequent a tail cap would fail ?
Big fan of your YouTube work.

  3. I have the Stylus Pro. love love love it. I use it in my crash bag since I work in the civilian and military aviation sector all over the country and world. it's bright, small, and lasts a long time. For the money it cannot be beaten. I am looking to purchase and torture test one of the microstreams. the idea will be that it fits in a multi tool pouch. I am planning on a micro bug out kit. The light needs to be water and shock resistant. at $20 I'm not out much if it fails. I personally don't think I'll have a problem.

  4. I used to carry the Fenix TK15. Its a great light, but it fits better on my AR than it does in my pocket. I saw this at Scheels and picked it up out of pure impulse (and the fact that I had a gift card). Incredible little light for the money. Would buy another in a heartbeat if mine broke (which I doubt it will)

  5. Hey I was thinking about getting one of these. Do you recommend this one over Pelican AAA flashlights? I love the idea of being more efficient, only needing one battery means saving money. As far as longevity, how is it?
