Years ago I picked up a Dewey cleaning rod. I like Dewey rods. This particular rod was for 17 HMR – 22 LR and it had a female threading on the end instead of male. The threading was very thin as the adapter at the time was much smaller than the standard 8×32 threads of cleaning components.
Fast forward a few years and now I have a tap and die set. Time to tinker. Original plan was to thread a brass rod and create my own adapter. Regardless of what I did, nothing fit.
Plan B. Tap the threads in the rod to something I could make fit! You’ll see all my attempts, failures and finally success at turning what was a useless cleaning rod back into one I can use again.

Everything you need – just by a cheap adapter. Here, forexample, https://forum.guns.ru/forummessage/153/733515.html
You don't read in russian, I think… Your Dewey rod has a 5/40 thread? So you need adapter CH-A-2.
