On this episode, Bryan discusses why he prefers Aimpoint optics over EoTech, including information about the recent issue and lawsuit surrounding it.

He also provides some insight into ballistic coefficient and how this plays into his preference of other optics over the ACOG on his AR’s.

  1. I settled for eotech with g33 magnifier and love it. Love I mean love holographic as it looks like it's project out to the target vs red dot that is a dot on the screen. Also even with a g33 magnifier you can mount buis. Note eotech works best dim as you can see through it. Hard to explain ,but like four hot chicks walking your way looking at you ,like your dinner.

  2. Atmospheric pressure is immeasurable at 500Y. And what is exactly the point when all references are taken at the same altitude? OMG I want the last 17 minutes of my life back. Wow, yes, a better BC is BETTER!

  3. I think it is important to note that ALL red dot sights will experience POI shift (thermal drift) in extreme temperature changes, that means Aimpoint, Eotech, and the Trijicon MRO. That's not to say that Aimpoint isn't a tougher optic with better battery life, but the actual "issue" was mostly overblown which is evident through many agencies/SOF Groups/Marines continuing to purchase and use Eotech sights. Not to say thermal drift is not a problem, but it is something present in every sight you would think of using (less drift with non-red dot optics). The issue I have is that they covered it up, I still have Eotechs along with my Aimpoints and love both but I do not like companies that act shady and that is what turned me off of Eotech (at least for the near future).

  4. Man you are in over your head. BC…you didn't even explain the different standard bullet shapes for G1 vs G7 . You also left the velocity factor out of your explanation of elevation clicks required and acted as though BC was the only factor. Waves your hands less and drink less coffee bzzzzz You need to buy Bryan Litz books and READ FOR COMPREHENSION.

  5. User didnt locktite a mount on a rifle that hadnt been checked in years. Fuckin trijicon and there bullshit! They should have flown out a technician to help you turn those knobs in order to preserve your soft hands. 😉

  6. I'm curious…every AR I've seen you have on the show has a quad rail with the rail covers that make them quite large in diameter. While active duty in the Marines, that is what we used, but now most people like the slim rails, me included. Any particular reason why you prefer the beefy quad rails? Love the show, keep it up!

  7. This used to be a really interesting channel but the gear tasting is just way too much so I unsubscribed. ITS maybe you could incorporate a little more variety and give the gear tasting a rest. This is just my opinion. If it's not popular well then…soldier on.

  8. Good video. I think and easier way to explain how a target changes size in BC is if you're looking at a person out the ground floor window of a building, the persons profile and center mass will look normal, but now go up a few floors in that same building, that same persons center mass and profile becomes much smaller. This is how I explain trajectory and what a bullet sees and everyone can relate to that kind of explanation. Keep up the great work.

  9. Rather than Pressure. The three factors affecting ballistic coefficientcy really come down do air density. You could say, tomato, tomato. But it's really easier for me to think of it in terms of air density. It's like saying "if you shoot through 16 empty milk jugs, the bullets will travel farther than th round 16 full milk jugs." No big deal. Just how I look at it

  10. Thanks for answering my last question Bryan. So question this time is, I take it that you don't like the idea of running both a magnified optic like an acog for medium range distances (say 200-500 yards) and something like angled backup sites or an rmr for CQB ranges? Also what do you see the maximum realistic usable range for an AR-15 (with or without an optic or scope)?

  11. For the last month or so I've been looking for a good everyday shoe. I have a pair of speedcross 3s that I use exclusively for the range. I love the look of the shoe but, I don't like the aggressive tread and how high it sits. I was wondering if any of you guys could recommend a more "casual, tactical" shoe. Thanks!

  12. I watched this video so I could jump on you about your not liking the ACOG. The screws coming loose also happened to me so I guess I can't 'jump on you' for that, I cranked them down with a channel lock and haven't had any problem even after a couple thousand rounds out of my 6.8. That was a pretty good explanation for the ballistic coefficient part of the vide. I would recommend people look up Bryan Litz for long range shooting info, his bio is too long to go into right here. Wait a minute, you just trashed the ACOG. I am a Marine and completely disagree with you about all the things you said about the features of the scope, I have one on top of my primary rifle, the one I use and will continue to use and bet my life on. Thanks for all your videos, Dave.
