  1. If you buy the military version, you will notice a notch that says IR Safe on it. That is there so you know if the light is still on with the naked eye so as to prevent draining the battery.

  2. I have the military version of this light, I love it , very well made. You mentioned that it was made of aluminum, actually it is made of good quality polymer plastic material .Take care.

  3. The Aviation model has the green light, its not IR. The Military model has the IR instead of the green. IR is invisible to the naked eye, it can only be seen under night vision. Hope this helps. Nice review

  4. I like the video review. Does it also have a red light?
Anyway, I have been wanting one for a while and I think I will take the plunge as real estate sales kick up a bit. It might have been even cooler in a pitch black setting. Thanks for the good info.

  5. @biblesnbarbells Yes, amazon had the compact green [wish it came in flat black] I like the cr123 battery format and already have that size rechargables w/nano charger. It had been hovering around $50 since before the holidays. Very xcited, I'm a big time gear-junkie.

  6. @rainmechanic The Streamlight Sidewinder has some very good applications: I have one attached to the front of my CAMELBAK Delta 5 Molle Vest. I also use one when I run attached to my CamelBak MULE Hydration Pack. I use the red signal feature so vehicles can see me at night. There is also a military application where it attaches to your helmet via an adapter making hands free possible. The rotating head is useful also. Thanks for watching. Anthony.

  7. Streamlights seem very overpriced compared to the contemporary competition like Fenix..4sevens..Olight…ect……. And besides the strange design.. this light also looks to have a freakishly large form factor for a 2 cell AA led light….
