  1. Awesome review. I currently have a Surefire scout on my rifle, but just picked up a HLX/Cloud Defense LCSmk2 combo for $120 something on eBay with a code.

The CD LCS is pretty handy with being able to run the pressure pad cable through it. I stumbled upon CD by chance when looking for pressure pad mounting options for my Surefire scout light. It may be a little pricey to some for what it does, but it's rock solid and no cheap zip ties to deal with and makes everything look clean and sharp.

  2. While you’re shooting, from the 12:1912:32 mark in the video, the light appears to flicker under recoil. Was that just the camera or did you notice the HLX actually flicker under recoil at any point?
Thanks for the great, in-depth review!

  3. @SageDynamics how does this compare to the Surefire P3X Tactical? They don't even make that model anymore, but it's the closest one that 1000+ lumens, 20,000+ Candela, single mode tailcap and is super durable. This HLX looks like it has the P3X beat since it has more than 1 mode… but the only light I've found to REALLY blind someone that isn't massive and is handheld, is the Klarus XT11GT. I have found no other light that has as much blinding power even when you put your hand up in front of the light to try and block it. How does the HLX compare to it as I was def considering the HLX since it's half the cost and can utilize the Thyrm Switchback…

  4. Excellent review as always. I’m about to pull the trigger on the LCS kit that includes the light but I have a question. You are running a key mod rail like I am, what is your preferred key mod to pic adapter and is it polymer? Concerned about the durability of the BCM polymer 3in pic rail adapter yonder heat and load, especially when using it as a barrier brace.

  5. Yeah I agree that candela is the better number to know I play airsoft and shoot on the side and when I play airsoft I need to blind people not just show them where I am

  6. Anyone in the comments having reliability issues with the tape switch that comes with the HLX? I switched back to my Surefire because I was having issues with the tape switch not working 100% of the time, mainly when I was shooting, about every ten rounds or so it would kick off and I would have to wiggle the wire. No issues with the tail cap though

  7. I'm looking at the hl-x or the hl for edc. I like the hl-x for 1000 lumens but is it good to go for pocket carry? I was planning on using a thrym switch back as well. Would appreciate some feedback

  8. Have you had any issues with the pressure pad? I'm finding that the wire protector end cap will turn off the light based on it's rotational position. It's happened with two different pressure pad end caps, so it's coming off my rifle.

  9. Aaron, have you encountered the light simply not turning on after shooting for a while? I've had this happen on 4 HLX lights. The two I originally bought, and the two I received back from Streamlight as warranty replacements. I'll function check the light at the beginning of a range session, then somewhere in the middle of my day, check it again to find its dead unless i hit it with my hand or mess with the tailcap. The lights are mounted similar to yours, close to the muzzle device, which in this case is a BCM comp, or a SiCo flash hider. Thanks for your input!

  10. I just got the cloud defensive mount and it is the best pressure pad mounting system on the market bar none. I'll never have a rifle with that one ever again
