Prior to kicking off the Crimson Trace Midnight 3-Gun Invitational (M3GI) at C.O.S.S.A range in Bend, Ore. professional shooter Jerry Miculek shared a few pointers on how to best hold and shoot an AR-15. Jerry hosted one of four training seminars for M3GI registered media.

Just catastrophic performance.
Jerry I have to ask does/could the position of a collapsible stock effect accuracy or just mainly comfort? When setting up a scope on a lr308 where would you place the stock position?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and for all of the lessons in shooting 🙂 Thanks to your pistol techniques / Finger placement video I can hit plates at 50 yards with my 3.3" 9mm.
Jerry is the super experienced operator ! Just wanted to share the new way to load mags. Check it on podavach.com
Don't listen to this guy. He's just some random dude on youtube telling you what he thinks works. Trust me, holding your rifle like that will NOT improve your accuracy at long range. My brother told me it is better to hold the rifle farther back.
Thank you
I wonder if Jerry has ever fucked a whore?
When you hold near the mag weld, you are doing more than just holding near the mag weld. There is a way to stand in that position, and if you don't learn in properly you will not maintain control of the rifle. I recently found video of retired Marine Drill Sargent Ken Roxburgh teaching the sitting and standing position. Watch it here, https://youtu.be/SPVVeKY_puY. Then feel free to tell me what you think. I respect Jerry Miculek for his speed shooting, but I don't see him shoot anything but steel targets. Show me video of him shooting at Camp Perry on the 200, 300, and 600 yard high power match and show me his score.
Nice pants
question..is it ok to hold it kimd of closer by the magazine if youre trying to aim around a corner/close range and youre under fire? i play paintball alot lol
Thanks Jerry !
where is all the combat military experts telling him he's using a "tacticool" hold. that the only way to hold a rifle is by the mag well or near. it is not. However you shoot your rifle best is the best hold for you…
Jerry is one of the worlds best shooters out there.he knows what he is saying and doing. So listen to him and follow what he tells you to do.but remember make it your own.every shooter holds and fires their weapons differently.so keep in mind keep what works for u n get rid of what does not work.practice makes prefect. and Jerry keep up the good job on the videos. n I would like to see you do a video with U.S. Marines and see you clear some houses that would be a great video to see.n we can teach each other some things or two.
I absolutely LOVE reading the comments from all the folks that are doing the public service of correcting the shooting methods of one of, if not THE best all-around shooter alive. Very charitable of them. Me, I'm just gonna listen to someone (Jerry) that has forgotten more than all us put together will ever know, and see if I can't learn a little something.
That is cool.
I have found that the farther you place your LEFT hand on the weapon,, the harder it is to keep on target.
I'm just saying
Good advice, as usual Jerry, thanks!
Great stuff!
Professional shooter Jerry Miculek has a few pointers on how to hold and shoot an AR-15 for consistent and accurate shooting at close- to mid-range targets. Try Jerry's technique at the range this weekend and while you're there remember to be safe.
I'm surprised. I am far more accurate when my support hand is in close and tight to the magazine well. I find the further I place that support hand from the mag well the harder it is to keep the rifle steady and balanced.
As for the importance of the trigger press, I could not agree more. A good trigger helps quite a bit with this. Unfortunately, most ARs come stock with horrible triggers.
Jerry living every guy's dream… I would love to check out his gun room
