It depends on a couple of things. The quality and accuracy of the machining on your picatinny rail is important. In general, as long as you return the optic to the same address (slot location) on the rail, move it forward in the slot, and don’t change the tension of the mount, your zero should be good. Certain aftermarket manufacturers have a reputation for the accuracy of their mounting systems – LaRue comes to mind.
