  1. I purchased mine of couple months ago put almost a thousand rounds through it without a hiccup lately I started noticing misfires and failure to eject I contacted ccmg and what they told me was to look at the chamber adaptor if the chamber adaptor has a hairline crack you're going to get those issues I contact them back told him that yes at my chamber adaptor had a hairline crack so they sending me a brand new chamber adaptor I'm going to try it out as soon as I get it and see what we fall in a great video

  2. Hey I'll buy that POS from ya $50 with the mag, just because it a life threting POS I'll be happy to give you half you money back on such a POS! The one I just got on the other hand, it eats everything! Win white box, American eagle, cci mm, Remington golden boys. Everything!

  3. We're you putting pressure on the mag? Ive seen several people give this kit a poor review, due to user error. Also, ive found the using the better mag conversion kit and 15-22 mags is much more reliable. Either way, this seems to be a rare circumstance. Ive used this bolt in both a didicated (purpose built .22lr ar 15) and as a drop in in othet ARs and have experienced very few failures (no more than any other .22lr platforms).

  4. I have a different experience. I bought the same bolt from Stag, which is basically the same as yours, but it feeds smoothly all almost 150 rounds of Remington .22lr brick.

  5. I also used that bulk ammo, some standard velocity, high velocity, Eley pistol match ammo and about 6 different brands match garde standard velocity stuff that's over 40 years old..
(Some of that old ammo was pretty old when it was given to me back in the 70s)..
Out of about 1,000 rounds, I had one failure to feed. And, I also had that crushed case sitting on the left rail..
However, I deliberately induced the problem, as a test.
I just purchased a very cheap upper to use for .22, so I can shoot it more, and not be cleaning it, like I do for the .223 upper. Anyways, while shooting from a standing position, I pushed up and pulled back on the magazine while firing.. Yeppers, it did malfunction, as expected..
(I can also make my 9mm Aimpoint carbine fail to feed doing the same trick)..
So, I avoid letting the mag rest on the shooting bench or hold on to it while shooting off-hand..
That makes for failure free shooting.. :

  6. How could they screw this up? J.A. Cenier has sold these for years without these problems. Mine has given no problems, but it is not like a gun that is designed from the ground up for rimfire.

  7. Dude it's not a 22 rifle u r shooting it with it's all about lessons learned and fun I had a feather industries AT 22lr ( anybody remember those ) fun and light aluminum

  8. I have the same bravo kit. I ran over 1000 rnds through it with minimal issues. You are right about it liking CCI ammo. I run the standard velocity 40 grn and shoot it through a 24” 223 Wylde chambered bull barrel upper. The rifle will shoot match grade .223 ammo at 0.5 MOA or less. This rig will group 22LR at 1-1.5 moa at 200 yds (2-3”). This is egg shooting consistency at 200 yds and yes I’ve scramble several to prove a point to friends. The catch is it will only perform as good as the AR that it is in. For full disclosure the chamber adapter did fail and until it was replace (free by CMMG) it would not do anything. I continue to share my experience and demonstrate its performance for anyone interested to see. Conversations usually start when People think I am shooting a suppressed rifle but they can’t figure out where the suppressor is…. 22LR at 200 yds is a blast. And at $0.6-0.8 a round how do you complain? I’m glad I’ve had better luck than you did.

  9. I bought a CMMG Bravo conversion kit many years ago and had some growing pains with it at first. The kit would not run on the Golden Bullet garbage at all in semi-auto. If you want a good single action .22 LR, use this kit with Golden bullets.

The CMMG kit did however run reasonably well with the Federal bulk, Winchester M-22, and Winchester bulk ammo. I attribute the failures to be the ammo's fault and not the kit's fault. My Ruger 10-22 will have failures at about the same rate as the CMMG kit. The CCI brand stuff was the absolute best ammo and rarely fails. The CMMG kit runs better the more you shoot with it as well. Shoot it more and break it in. My biggest complaint about the kit is that the rifling rate of the standard AR is too fast for .22 LR and this adversely affects the accuracy. Use the heavier bullets for the best results.

The best ammo for the CMMG kit is the CCI AR Tactical ammo. It is loaded to be 1200 fps and has a 40 grain bullet. I have never had a failure of this ammo in either the kit or the dedicated upper and it is also the most accurate/ consistent at long ranges. The mini-mags are also good ammo for this kit.

I liked my conversion kit so much that I bought a CMMG dedicated .22 LR upper a few years ago. It was a bit better with the bulk ammo but the dedicated upper will run you between double and triple what this conversion kit will cost you. The barrel however is the correct bore size and rifling is optimized for .22 LR ammo. I will also note that the dedicated uppers come with a nice nitrated barrel that will probably never wear out. You could spend a lifetime shooting rounds down the barrel and never see any wear.

I only had one issue with my dedicated upper and it was at an Appleseed event. I was shooting CCI Stingers which is a hot load and something broke in the dedicated upper. The CMMG kit/dedicated upper can safely handle the hotter .22 LR ammo like the CCI Stingers. The dedicated upper however had a plastic forward assist accessory that allows the operator to use forward assist of the AR to push the bolt closed. This accessory is not needed and I am not sure why it was even made. While using Stingers, a small plastic piece came off that forward assist device and jammed up the fire control group on the AR. I simply fished the broken piece out of the AR lower, took that plastic forward assist part out of the upper and it functioned with no more issues. I called CMMG and they sent me a replacement part out that was made out of Aluminum. I have had no other issues with the dedicated upper and the new aluminum part has worked flawlessly since it was installed. I liked the dedicated upper so much that I later made my conversion kit into a dedicated .22 LR upper with a 20" barrel.

I understand that firing a round out of battery can be dangerous but you might be overstating the danger. Firing a .22 LR is only dangerous if you are shooting left handed or if there are people to your right as you are shooting. Shooting a .22 LR out of battery while shooting the gun right handed will likely never be unsafe for the shooter and will also likely not cause any damage to the kit. I have heard of the S&W 15-22 shooting out of battery and actually causing damage to the gun and ejecting parts. Project Appleseed will not allow people to use the S&W 15-22 at their events because of this and injuries caused to shooters on the line at past events. I will note that the shooters hurt on the line were to the right of the person shooting the S&W 15-22 and not the actual shooter of the S&W 15-22.

  10. I just bought one of these from midway, $150, took to the rang w/ Winchester m-22. 25 round mag, maybe 7 or 8 shots fired. Pretty disappointed. Not sure if I'm going to call cmmg or maybe put stronger hammer spring in. What do you all suggest. Sounds like most of folks problems were failure to feed which wasn't my case. I'm not getting all light primer strikes. Could be ammo I suppose, new to 22LR. All my firearms are 9mm, but wanted something to practice with through my AR. No such luck thus far.

  11. I have a walther p22 that shoots about anything except aguilla
This conversation kit doesn't like aguilla that much
The problem is its soft brass and expands in the chamber and extractor slips on the rim causing fte or weak eject
I noticed it was doing the same in the Walther
I can almost crush aguilla brass with fingers and not so with cci or remington etc

  12. I have shot several different .22LRs through mine. All lower to mid-grade ammo. I really can’t afford CCI. That’s why I bought the CMMG conversion kit for my DPMS. I was a poor boy crying over 223 ammo. So far the only thing I had problems with is Remington Golden Bullets. I not only like my 22 conversion kit, I bought another for my RRA.

  13. mine shot federal bulk with no problems, i havnt had any problems. Keep it clean and it will work. Its like any gun, some work and some dont. If you tell cmg they will give you another one

  14. I have 2 of these and have had close to zero problems. Over the last 3 years we have shot the hell out of our CMMG conversions using all kinds of ammo even the cheap bucket o bullets that is 1400 rounds of cheap 22lr. I would call CMMG because you must have got a bad BCG because I even have a buddy that has one and loves it.

  15. I just got one of these conversion kits and planned on running it in my Anderson ar with the fostech echo trigger, took out my bolt carrier put in the cmmg and pulled the charging handle back, released and pulled the trigger …nothing, no click , looked at the ejection port and could see that it didn’t close properly, well after researching the problem found that you need a sear kit from fostech for about $30 bucks to make it work, so waiting on that… hope it works.

  16. If you use the magazine as a monopod it will guarantee a malfunction every time with the kit.
I've used it in 4 different rifles now over the past 18 months with minimal failures. I shot just about everything with it with the only difference being accuracy. Its great for plinking and taking down small game. It is lightweight, takes up little room and easily converts saving the need to bring a second rifle.
    I love mine!
It's nowhere as good as my 10/22 but that's not its purpose. Like I said, it has been very reliable for me, saves space and the need to bring along second rifle.

  17. Having a similar problem. Researching solution given all the positive feedback I've read. Running in dedicate CMMG 22LR 4.5" barrel with crown while using their mags as well. Found this video along with learning of their anti jam charging handle.

Spoke with CMMG tech. Brian suggested swapping the charging handle first for $19. If necessary , then file down mag follower. Told me Black Dog mags already have this mod and are great mag. Go figure!

  18. Mine eats everything. No issues at all, but i'm running hiperfire 24C, which gives a 35% harder primer strike. As below dont rest the gun on the mags. And that bulk ammo, check it with your fingernail. A lot of times excess bullet lubed rounds go into the bulk. This is fine if you live in the south, but cold lube is like very sticky wax. That is likely your out of battery. I ran into that wax lube issue on Remington as well as Winchester. It is a pain but if you warm it up and wipe it off with a rag that same ammo runs fine.

  19. I've had the non-stainless steel CMMG conversion for about 9 years. Regardless of cleanliness, it's common to have failures to extract. It's also common to find brass stuck in-between the CMMG bolt and the charging handle. If you get one, be sure to bring needle nose pliers and a small screwdriver when you take it out for plinking. I consider it a novelty and NOT a feasible option for economical training with your AR.

  20. i recently picked one of these conversion bolts up, but only ordered the bolt, without a magazine. i did this based on reviews i had seen and read regarding the reliability of the cmmg magazines. instead, i went with the black dog machine mags and ordered two of them and i was not sorry.

since buying this i have had zero issues with it and have fired all sorts of crap, including the "recommended" CCI minimags.

but that's the thing, you either find reviews that love the conversion bolt, or totally hate it. there seems to be no in-between.

sorry you're having a bad experience.

again, perhaps the "issue" is mag-related. another thing i did was allow ammo to sit in the mags for a week to help break in the spring. i think it's a little too robust and pushes too hard maybe… who knows. anyway… merry solstice and a happy perihelion.

  21. I've had the cmmg conversion for a couple years now with minimal issues. My experience with it has been great. It runs everything i put in it except cci quiet. I will malfunction if you rest the rifle on the magazine. Im not sure if thats whats causing your malfunction, but that will definitely do it.
    Good video though. Just subbed.
