This year I want to find the Best AR 15 Upgrades 2018. Let’s do an AR 15 Handguard upgrade 2018. // AR-15 Build List and Coupons Below

In this series I’m upgrading my budget AR-15 build with parts that arent so budget firendly.

The first AR15 Upgrade we’re going to look at is the F4 Defense ARS Lite Handguard system.

This Handguard Upgrade combines picatinny and M LOK handguard.

However, this AR 15 hanguard isn’t without it’s flaws.

Let’s see how it compares to my Aero Precision Atlas S-One Handguard

  1. Any plans on working with T5 custom kydex in the future? I just ordered one of their hitchhiker rigs for my 19x with a streamlight tlr1hl and an OWB holster for the same gun for my job. I would love to hear your opinion on it.

  2. I'm an old Infantry guy, so my take is probably a bit different than yours. The problem I have with the small diameter handguards is heat. You better be wearing insulated gloves on your off hand, if you are doing a lot of firing. I also have a thing about lights on a weapon, they make you a target. IMO, better to have a laser that you can easily switch on or off in that position than a light. Just looking at your muzzle break/flash suppressor it looks like it will cut into your light in that position. In general, anything that puts my hand out to the end of the barrel gets a flash can to direct the blast forward. I keep hearing the SOF community talking about people getting a finger cut off by those birdcages on SBRs. JMHO.

  3. Yea $225 is really pushing it. The M-lock Keymod dynamic duo is pretty cool, I like that. But I'm a Keymod guy, all my rail accessories work with that, i really don't have a need to switch back and forth.

  4. Does anybody know how to set up notifications when a youtuber uploads? This is the only channel Im subscribed to on two accounts. Its the only channel I watch basically every video front to end.

  5. It’s an mlok handguard, utilize mlok accessories and you will be happy. Choose a different weapon light system so the mount up is better. For example streamlight Protac rail mount, fairly inexpensive and has everything you need to mount and run it. The system also is the same size of a surefire mini scout so all mounting accessories the surefire works on the streamlight.

  6. Jonathan, cool rail or as I say handguard. Check out SLR rifle works handguards and if you decide to get one or you want one let me know. You can also get small pieces of picatinny rail that will bolt to those M Lok sections and let you put your light anywhere there's an M Lok mount. Unfortunately with that integrated pic rail on the very front you won't be able to put it there. Another words you can't but the picatinny rail up to the integrated picatinny rail because it's solo on the handguard. Cool review I like to see new product. If I'm going to spend money like that I'm going to buy something exactly what I need. The SLR rifle Works handguards are awesome I'm a dealer for them. They also have the ability to put the barrel nut gas block and gas tube on with no timing of the barrel nut and then slide the handguard on over the barrel nut. I think they'll have something that you'll like checked out the sololite handguard m-lok if that's what you want or if you want key mod they have that as well they have multiple links they even sell hand stops that bolt to the m lock or key mod. They also sell pieces of picatinny rail that you can put anywhere you want to the keymod or mlok and attach things wherever you need to. Hit me back if you're interested.

  7. Probably has been pointed out already but do they make a picatinny attachment allowing you to move your handstop back…or another handstop using the other attachment capabilities?
I sometimes believe the manufacturing companies actually know that creating something new forces ppl to buy new stuff…thus increasing their bottom line.

  8. Great point on all aspects. That price is a bit seep for what you are getting. There are other options for hand guards that are well known a proven for much less. You really don't want to be running that light too far forward. The blast from the barrel will start discoloring the lens on it and effect your light output due to carbon buildup and all that fun stuff. I have a rail similar to that by another company that pretty much has the same setup at the front. The only thing I use it for is a bi-pod. To be honest m-lock or key-mod on the sides would be better for versatility, in my opinion.

  9. Tactical Toolbox you're brutally honest regardless of the fact that the product you review was a freebie and I can truly appreciate that. I think your opinion of the pic rail section is dead on and for the price it should have no complaints. Great companies listen to customer feedback. Thanks for your honesty.

  10. Put a m lock picitiney rail on it and use that free mother. Looks good. Too high on the cost though. Try a Stryker hand rail out of Texas I believe. Priced around 100 bucks and good quality. Check em out.

  11. Dave here from F4. Thanks for the review and certainly appreciated the honest assessment. I just wanted to point out that you omitted our regular ARS rail that has our hybrid system the entire length of the rail, not just the forward 5”. The Lite is just a variant of the standard ARS rail. That’s an important aspect of our patented system as a whole. Thanks again

  12. Prefer the F4, but they need to extend the pic rail length. IMO, the rail has a better lockup than the Aero. Regardless, I’d go with Geissele for that money, but I am a SCAR, LMT, LWRC guy. I don’t get to choose a rail with those platforms. Weird that the machining marks made the texture rough. Need to improve on the QC for the stuff shipping to customers.
