Real comparison between the Streamlight and Surefire X300 Ultra.
BUILD: Streamlight is all metal and has a better switch. Also more compact. Surefire has a cheap plastic mount inhibiting installation. Switch on Streamlight is superior vs. the spongy Surefire switch.
SIZE/WEIGHT: Streamlight 4.1oz. Surefire 4oz. Streamlight is .5″ shorter also
BEAM: Streamlight is brighter and also has a ‘superior’ spill at distance-see video. No strobe function on the Surefire available.
PRICE: $230 for Surefire. $130 for Streamlight
AESTHETICS: Surefire looks great, Streamlight has an ugly Cadillac bling ring on the end of it.

How does this video not have thousands of likes?!?! VERY informative AND even gives example. Perfect video man! Facts, opinions, walkthroughs and demonstrations. Thanks.
your ar is one beautiful piece of work.what upper/lower and rail are you using on there.i just finished my pof 415 lower and looking for a nice upper and rail.thanks a lot
What kind of flash suppresssor is that on your rifle?
I just got a protac HL 3 at 1100 lumens, granted it is much larger and heavier than these but on strobe it will blind someone instantly. For me the weight is not a problem since i am not going to be mounting a scope.
I have a USP compact, I know streamlight makes rails for them and was wondering if you can buy adapters to put on a keymod (or pic rail)? Or does the streamlight mount not come off
sf qc is going down hill streamlight ftw
Thanks for the detailed review. Very informative.
Okay! Well, I'm sold.
Great review. Once I can confirm that Amazon is now selling the new 800-lumen version of the TLR-1 HL, I'm going to get one. Probably then get a second one with the long gun kit for my future first AR.
Cheers.
Nice video!
Great Info. surefire works, but its SOOOO over priced.
how is the Streamlight holding UP so far?
The X300 is a snug fit for a reason: so that it mounts securely to the rail without any movement. You don't have to loosen the screws to get it on: that's crazy. The screws should be secured with loctite if you want any reliability from the unit. To push it onto your rail, you just tap the face with your palm or fist (or maybe a plastic hammer?) to seat it onto the rail. I've never had a problem doing it; and I've never needed a hammer either. And yeah, the Surefire switch is a little stiffer to move (I have a Streamlight TRL-3 to compare it to). But once again, I've never found it difficult to operate. And, I think it would prove a benefit in a crisis situation where you would have a reduction in your fine motor skills. In fact, I can't help to think that this might be the reason it is the way it is.
Super review, I dropped my gun with my X300 on it and it fell in a way where the light was actually cocked on the rail. Hence the plastic rails were damaged and then my light would not fit tight anymore. You CAN NOT just buy the rails. I was on eternal hold with Surefire 2x. I found a replacement rail system from Unity Tactical which I will use temporary but down the road will look into the streamlight.
I'm glad i found your video. I have an older surefire X300 I love. Wont be buying a new one.
The x300ultra is a handgun only light… It's what I have on my glock, and it doesn't budge. And the switch is perfect for handgun applications. But a light made for a carbine…
This really helps me in my decision. Gonna go with the Streamlight. Thanks a bunch man.
What upper receiver is that?
Brilliant tutorial and review. Thanks for the effort.
Just curious, I have the TLR-2S, I am currently using it on my H&K 40 cal and wouldn't mind using every now and then on my Spikes AR, If you do the pressure switch then you can either use it just on the ar, do you just prefer mounting it on the pistol or AR rail and just toggle it manually? I think that is the route I'm going to go. It's not about the money as in having the ease of slapping it on whatever I want
if you toggle the TLR down then quickly switch it up you'll get the strobe feature to stay on
I'm glad I got the stream light. A lot cheaper too
I don't get the "effort" argument… everything else seems to be on point though #Trump2016
Thank you sir for the great review.
Great video. Ty for making it.
Thanks for this review. I have the TLR-2 C4 and was thinking of getting the TLR-1 HL.
