The microstream usb will run at 250 lumens for an hour and a half, where the regular microstream w/ the 10440 battery will run near the same lumens, but for only 20 minutes.
The operating voltage is supposedly 1.5 to 3 volts for the C4 led, I can't remember where I got that from, and the standard microstream is 45 lumens fl1 standards, not 85, the stylus pro is 90(the 2x aaa flashlight).
O.K. maybe your information of extra performance is good for some applications is good and maybe "stupid" is too much, but for me 45 lm is ideal to do routine hands free procedures such as identification and car search … where you don´t need complaint because of too bright flashlight. All Microstreams from gen1 to gen4 are simple on/off and only option with 250+ lm are for majority maybe too much light into theirs eyes. Microstream gen5 is all diferent story because of high/lo option 😀
Nice! I just found this out about my new Coast single AA light. Supposed to go from around 120 to 350 or so. It has a "zoom" so it'll flood evenly or focus bright & hot. I wish it would twist to lock the head but for what it is it's solid & works like a charm! TFS
If you are talking about Microstream gen4, than it is 45 lm (and not 85 lm). Microstream gen1 had 23 lm, gen2 28 lm, gen3 35 lm and gen4 45 lm. New gen5 with USB rechargeable Li-ion have 250 lm on high. I´we already seen gen2 with 10440 to go somewhere ower 120 lm, but personally I thing that goin over 45 lm with this format of flashlight is stupid. Keep it simple! So small 45 lm flashlight is perfect EDC … highly usable and steal so pocket and eyes friendly. For higher lm I use bigger flashlights such as PolyTac90, ProTac HL USB and ProTac HL4 …
Awesome tip. I’ve done the same thing to some of my Fenix aaa’s but they seem to get really hot, really fast with the lithium ions. Definitely changes the light output though
You need to totally light geek out and order an actionmeter and be the light guru on YouTube 🤓 It is noticeable. That's a real money saving hack. The same thing often goes with cell phones that people think are shot.

I have the same setup for about 2 years now and it only will last for about 20 to 30 min max

How many mAh are you running, and what sort of run time can we expect?
Good info thanks for sharing

I dont know where you keep getting 85 lumens from. Its 45. And the company is streamlight, not microstream.
