Full Story (blog post):
In this video, I show how to build an M4-style AR-15 carbine rifle from a Del-Ton kit and stripped lower receiver in seven minutes (condensed core build steps from this video – see timestamp links). All you need is the Del-Ton rifle build kit, a stripped lower receiver, a magazine, and a rear sight, and you’ll be set with a fully functional AR-15 rifle!
Steps shown in this video:
3:11 – Magazine catch
3:56 – Bolt catch
4:44 – Trigger and hammer
7:21 – Trigger guard
8:09 – Pivot pin
8:35 – Buttstock and takedown pin
9:54 – Buffer and buffer spring
10:12 – Mating upper and lower, function test
Have fun building your rifle! (I sure did)

Helped me build by own
Great video, but one issue. You skipped over the disconnector installation on the trigger assembly. One minute it's not there and in the next frame it is. That part could really throw off a newbie.
Just assembled this exact lower and upper assembly for a friend. It was my first stripped lower build that i have done. After i had the lower together, i realized that there was an extra part on my bench. Compared it to one of my lowers and it was the disconnect. Went back through your video and did not see you mention installing it. Glad i spotted it or the first time at the range with this new rifle would have been interesting! Good video otherwise!
Great video, and I really like the t-slots on your workbench! Very clever, stealing that idea.
Will it fire a 5.56mm NATO
so is it a complete kit? just buy and build it? i know mags come separate. or do you have to buy certain parts to complete the gun
My first AR was a build with a Delton kit and Anderson lower. I don't know if I'd take a Delton to war but for the money you can do a lot worse. It's been a good rifle. Looks like a good build, I am a believer these days in staking that castle nut though.
Your function test is lacking a step…. upon charging the rifle the second time, squeeze-AND-hold the trigger back while charging the rifle again. once charged, release the trigger and you should hear an audible metallic clunk sound. That is the step you are missing. This step verifies proper trigger installation and function.
Just got finished with a Del-Ton AR15A3 rifle kit build with Anderson stripped lower. Got the 20 inch chrome lined heavy barrel 1 in 9 twist. Just what I wanted. Really like the quality of the rifle and parts at a good price from DTI. Great customer service so far. To get the chrome lined option or other configuration options you have to go through DTI direct rather than a distributor though. This was my first build and first AR. I am familiar with the AR DI platform and have shot them many times in the past. I am not a fan of the AR DI platform but while prices are good right now it made sense to build one as I have had in mind to for a long time. It is nothing special just a mil spec AR15A3 flat top with M4 feed ramps. The complete upper with A2 stock kit and lower parts kit was $510 add $35 for chrome lined option. Anderson stripped lower was $55. So total rifle was $600. Mil spec UTG carry handle was $69.99. I added a thru rail with a 3-9x32mm tactical scope with rings and lens flip covers. Also an M4 sling. I can shoot with both iron sights and scope. Thanks for sharing your M4 carbine build.

Enjoyed the video. Did notice one thing though, at the 5:09 mark you show the trigger installed with no disconnect and then at the 5:25 mark you show it with the disconnect. Although overall it is a great instructional video and as a beginner I found it most helpful, you can imagine my surprise when i found I had a part left over when I thought I was done. I re-watched the video and found what I had missed. Also there is no mention of the disconnect other than putting in the disconnect spring at the beginning of the assembly of the trigger group. You might want to correct this for future watchers. Just my simple and uneducated observation. Other than that thanks for a great video.
your video was informing and very well laid out! I'll give you three thumbs up! I'm glad to see that you have 300 positive votes and 0 negative votes! keep up the good work!
Delton makes great products!
Great vid..man…i loved it..keep it up✌✌✌🤘🤘🤘
Hello ! What brand rear sight did you use ?
Great Video. Lots of your vids are. If your AR-15 Precision Build DVD is this good then might need to order one.
Thanks for vid. Satisfied curiosity on how to put together an AR-15.
Great video, I'd have liked to see checking disconnector function as part of the trigger function check added to the video for the beginners who haven't done this 50 times. Keep up the great work.
Great video. I built a an AR with Del-Ton Mid-length upper and Anderson lower a couple of years ago. It is has proven reliable, rugged and is my favorite and least expensive AR. Again, great information.
Didn't realize it was that easy to assemble one, definitely will look into building my own, nice video, thank you and keep up the great videos
Great vid. Straight to the point. TY
Hey, what roll pin punch set do you recommend? What's the name of tool with the nob ?
WE gonna get a new shop tour? Nice vid.
Thank you very much! I have helped assemble two kits and I really appreciate the feeler gauge over the front detent. I shot that part across the room more than once.
I built my Anderson lower on the dining room table covered with towels as I don't have a proper bench and vise at home. The magazine vise block definitely simplifies things.
I'm sure some tacticool commandos are screaming about dry firing without a hammer block, whatever, if the lower cracks with a hammer strike it was junk to begin with.
