Problems with my EOTech Model 512

I took my AR-15 out of the gun safe today to go to the range to knock the dust out of it and when I went to fire up the EOTech….nothing. I first thought it could be dead batteries but that was not it, the EOTech was DOA. This is a perfect example of not becoming dependent on red dots or holographic sites, they do fail. You had better have good iron sites and the ability to use them.

  1. they have a buy back or swap program going on since the lawsuit. send it in they will send you a new one, even if you already got the repair kit you can still swap it for a new one or get a full refund. swap is faster.

  2. I'm shocked it simply stopped working. I love my 512. Zero issues. I have a friend who's had his since at least 5-6 years or more and also has had zero issues. Hits targets (in extremely hot weather as in 120+) at 100 yards plus on the dot. Disappointed to hear so many people have had issues with these sights. Utter bullshit they changed the wording to cover their asses.

  3. It gets much, much worse. Three days ago,my Eotech would not even shoot into a target circle at 130ft! first string was okay, but spread out. Then, the next went high. After,it was to the edge of the target paper! My Eotech is almost ten years old,but lot's of blooming, even at lower settings, will not hold a zero, etc. Time for a new site.

  4. The same thing happened to my eotech and fortunately it was covered by the company, unfortunately it took over a month to get my sight back… I think that's why they started using the CR 123 batteries. I also like the eotechs better than my aimpoints, but the truth of the matter is that flip up sights are a must for anyone serious about shooting.

  5. Like mentioned before, I believe EOtech will give you your money back. I recently picked up a Spikes M4-LE and I am saving up to get an Aimpoint PRO for it. I like EOtech but I don't like their low battery life.

  6. The rubber grommets will drop right back in and it should be good, but like others have said, send it back for a full refund, they are pretty much useless now, problems with your zero moving up and down in cold or hot, so, I sent mine in and got an Aimpoint. Hopefully they will get me my refund before the end of the year since everyone is sending these back. I loved mine too, but with the problems they had, its not worth chancing it anymore.

  7. I had a problem with my Eotech 512 and emailed L3 about it. They got back to me very quickly and told me even though my optic was out of warrant, to send it in and they would make it right. Excellent customer service.
