I took my AR-15 out of the gun safe today to go to the range to knock the dust out of it and when I went to fire up the EOTech….nothing. I first thought it could be dead batteries but that was not it, the EOTech was DOA. This is a perfect example of not becoming dependent on red dots or holographic sites, they do fail. You had better have good iron sites and the ability to use them.

EOTECH was solid for a long time… I know SWAT guys who still use and love them.. I have owned both.. my biggest problem would big thermal drift.
If you drop them back in and use the battery to help you center the springs it will still work fine. I'm thinking your batteries were dead. This is good to try just to make sure you don't have another issue
mine just broke eotechs. 500 dollars down the drain. i sent it in and when i get it back im buying 2 holosuns.
they have a buy back or swap program going on since the lawsuit. send it in they will send you a new one, even if you already got the repair kit you can still swap it for a new one or get a full refund. swap is faster.
Guess Id better check mine. Thanks.
I'm shocked it simply stopped working. I love my 512. Zero issues. I have a friend who's had his since at least 5-6 years or more and also has had zero issues. Hits targets (in extremely hot weather as in 120+) at 100 yards plus on the dot. Disappointed to hear so many people have had issues with these sights. Utter bullshit they changed the wording to cover their asses.
had no idea they made ar 15s with the dust cover on the left side.
i had the same problem with a 512. I had two eotechs and really liked them but after everything that has gone on it was time to go aimpoint.
after watching your video i took out the batteries and same thing happened? but the batteries where still good. aah now what. this should not happen to a eotech. i like the 512 too.
Did you see on news, EOtech has been sued by US Gov't. for thermal drift. As it heats up, the dot may drift up to 12" at 300 yards…Hmmmmm! And this sight is very expensive.
It gets much, much worse. Three days ago,my Eotech would not even shoot into a target circle at 130ft! first string was okay, but spread out. Then, the next went high. After,it was to the edge of the target paper! My Eotech is almost ten years old,but lot's of blooming, even at lower settings, will not hold a zero, etc. Time for a new site.
It happened to me too brother, they`ll send you a kit to fix it no charge with some decent instructions, I had mine back up within an hour…
i have had the reticle go into double vision with a smear. they replace the entire unit. but with all this i will not buy eotech again.
Hope it works out ok for you.
Ugh, hopefully they've addressed the issue.
I hate when this happens…. Hopefully they will stand behind their product!! 😉
i used to think eotech was the best. turns out they are willing to bet your life on a product they know doesnt work. there will never be an eocrap on any of my weapons. ever.
Sorry bout that friend but im sure they will make it right.
The same thing happened to my eotech and fortunately it was covered by the company, unfortunately it took over a month to get my sight back… I think that's why they started using the CR 123 batteries. I also like the eotechs better than my aimpoints, but the truth of the matter is that flip up sights are a must for anyone serious about shooting.
Long time no gun talk.
Get your refund and get a trijicon mro. Ain't much of a price difference
The rifle's broken, they installed the dust cover and forward assist on the wrong side!
Like mentioned before, I believe EOtech will give you your money back. I recently picked up a Spikes M4-LE and I am saving up to get an Aimpoint PRO for it. I like EOtech but I don't like their low battery life.
I had the same problem with my Eotech 522
Aimpoint all the way.
Could you use a Trijicon rmr, on your pic rail, In place of your Eotech? Same open style.
Nice to see you back, sorry it had to be because of a problem.
Even the best optics can not work, yet some still say you don't need back up sights.
The rubber grommets will drop right back in and it should be good, but like others have said, send it back for a full refund, they are pretty much useless now, problems with your zero moving up and down in cold or hot, so, I sent mine in and got an Aimpoint. Hopefully they will get me my refund before the end of the year since everyone is sending these back. I loved mine too, but with the problems they had, its not worth chancing it anymore.
Roll up some aluminum foil and shove it in the holes then reinstall that batteries, it should then be battle ready!
I had a problem with my Eotech 512 and emailed L3 about it. They got back to me very quickly and told me even though my optic was out of warrant, to send it in and they would make it right. Excellent customer service.
What a bummer!
Hopefully they get it fixed for you.
Don't ever get rid of that rifle. Because it appears that Stag Arms is gone.
Sorry about the problem but good hearing from you.
Hope it works Out Bro!
Good luck on a refund or something. Good to hear from you!
Be safe brother.
Good luck with it
Mike, a friend of mine sent his back for both that and other issues and they fixed everything free of charge and shipped it back. Good luck and keep me posted buddy..
