Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 3-9x40mm Review

This is my review of my scope from Nikon. I put it on my Ruger 10/22 carbine and it works perfectly! It has a great bullet drop compensator and very clear glass. I misspoke during the video when I said that parallax is the distance at which the scope is focused at. Instead it means where the focal plane is, which is confusing so I’ve included a link below to the wiki page that explains it all. Thanks for watching, and if you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments!

  1. Thanks for taking the time to create this video. Do you have any experience with mounting one of these on a Remington 552 Speedmaster? I'm concerned about the front of the scope potentially hitting on the rear sight. Thanks for any input!

  2. Dude you know your stuff.
Nice detail and articulation. This seems like the one I'd like to have on my Ruger 10/22.
I have seen a notable YouTuber make mention of this exact scope which he referenced it being fantastic , followed by a problematic o-ring on the objective lens.(twice)
That could just be bad luck , hate to have one person's opinion dissuade me from a quality optic though.

  3. I have two of these telescopic sights on my Kidd/Ruger 10-22's. I used a P-223 set of rings for one rimfire for the height to clear the front bell over the bull barrel. Both rifles have picatinney rails. The other rifle has a tapered barrel, so I used a set of low rings for that one.

  4. Clear and concise review in shot video time. Thanks for this.
I'm looking for a Rimfire scope now, and it seems that Nikon has a slightly more powerful scope in 3-9×40 than it's close competitor Vortex Crossfire II at 2-7×32.
I' m still trying to make up my mind though.

  5. Thanks for the review. I bought a 10/22 last week and got one of the Nikon rimfire Prostaff scopes as well. Lower rings are definitely an issue with the front sight even when it's folded down. I ordered some 1/2 way decent medium rings that will hopefully help the bell clear the front sight. I also ordered a Nikon P-22 scopes. I'm going to play around and see which combo works best on my Savage Mark II and my 10/22.

  6. Good vid! the fixed as well as adjust. Prostaff line models are some of the best scope values available. Have them on my 10/22's, .308's etc.
You are obviously well informed and a true enthusiast! Good to see little people in the sport. 🙂

  7. Thanks for the info, It looks like the Nikon is the best option for what I want it to do. As for the blackberry it took me ages to work out how to use this one so I don't fancy going through the same again with a different phone!!! 😉 I'll have a look on Nikons website, thanks again.

  8. Thanks for a nice and concise review, I'm looking currently at scopes for a 10/22 myself for a new build I'm planning. I shoot on a 25yd range would the app you spoke of work with the sight zeroed at 25yds ? Also is the app available for a blackberry?

  9. I recently bought a Gamo Silent Stalker Whisper air rifle….took me a while to find an ammo it liked..but the stock scope just wasn't cutting it….it seemed to zero off after shooting for a while….would this work well on an air rifle also? I'm thinking of buying it.
