There are a lot of EOTech users and fans out there, and a lot of us are wondering what the hell is going on with this buyback program, what the root cause is, and how to resolve it.
Kudos to John and Eotech for taking the time to square off and explain what is going on to the little guys who spent big to buy their product. We’ve never had an issue with their optics and POA/POI discrepancy, but we do appreciate the fact that they acknowledge an issue, and want to make it right with their customers, if needed.

One of the worst things a company can ever do to its customers/clients is lie and for years with lives on the line! There's no turning back, they fucked up big time. I hope this company ceases to exist. As much as I wanted an EOTech, I can't support a company such as theirs. Trust will never be earned or it will take a really long time for them to earn people's business back.
Make me happy with a budget friendly optic in the Vortex range.
I DONT SHOOT WHEN ITS -40 OR DO I SHOOT WHEN ITS 110. HEAT TRANSFER FROM GUN IS NOT GOING TO BE THAT HOT. THE NEW ONES (2017) MODELS ARE FIXED ANYHOW.
So if I had an eotech on my deer rifle and inside my house is 70 degrees then I get in the deer stand and it’s 10 degrees would there be a shift
To be fair even red dots experience thermal shift. I have a T1 but wouldn't be afraid or an eotech.
Never buy an eotech. Garbage. They never even sent my rebate either. Sorry. We lost your paperwork.
IRON SIGHTS ONLY you nancy boys.
Well only use your eotech while on the equator and you be ok.
I'll buy your EO Tech if it's less than a year old and you don't want it
I wonder if anyone in the comments actually had any issues with the zero on their eotech before they sent it back.
I'm guessing people just jump onto the newest trend without thinking it through.
I've had an eotech since 2011-ish and it's been perfect (from probably -6 deg up to 95 deg with no issues.
I don't care for the battery life, but it's not a bad optic.
I'm also wondering if the people who investigated the drift claim used a different brand sight and shot the same type of gun in -40 and +120 to compare the difference.
Metal shrinks in colder weather, so the zero drift may have been unrelated to the sight.
I ran my xps2 from temperatures between -30 to +30 and i have never had any issue with i owned that optic for 8 years and beat the hell out of it in training classes from rain to snow to extreme heat never once failed me sold it with the rifle i had it on from what i am told its still working fine… I have a 512 on my new rifle after 6000 rounds and hard use works fine. As for poi shift i have never really had a issue with that or really noticed it i always verify my zero pretty often i think its normal to have to reset it once in a while. I do the same with a NIGHT Force NXS you cant expect a optic to operate the same in different temperatures the same goes for aim point i have owned them to and they are all the same.
Almost bought one but luckily found out about that the sight changes zero in different temperatures.
Never gonna regret that i chose aimpoint.
Even if that fact doesnt matter you it still makes a statement about the company itself that they knew about the defect and kept it to themselfs.
I could never support something like that
The only problem I ever had with my Eotech here in Michigan is that my dumb ass over adjusted the windage and popped a retaining clip off internally. I sent it out and had it back a few weeks later. I also own Vortex,Leopold,Bushnell,Redfield optics on varying guns and rifles for different purposes. I own 3 Eotechs and wouldn't dream of trading them.
122 is not that hot. a chunk of metal in the sun in Arizona easily exceeds that
Stand up and take a bow EOTech.
Don't get me wrong, it's a shame we've gotten this far down that we need to thank a company for simply doin' the right thing, but let's be real, how many do?
Is it also just a smart business move that will likely net them more money in the long run, anyway? Sure. But if that's the criteria, why don't other companies do this when their crap goes bad or doesn't live up to what it was supposed to?
I had written EOTech to be honest. But when James Yeager (hey, love him or hate 'em he's opinionated and speaks his mind, and has ALWAYS hated EOTech) started changing his tune, I thought something had to have changed, then they did this. A stand up job I say, they're back in my consideration. I've always liked the design, I just wanted them to "work"…ALL the time.
Last time I promise, Great job EOTech!
I gotta say while I prefer aimpoint, I do still believe Eotech's are good optics GENERALLY speaking, and if the army made me use one, I wouldn't have a problem with that. My buddies in Ranger Batt love em. Especially the EXPS models.
damn man, what's with the loud beeping? I had headphones on and you blew out my fuckin eardrums. Learn how to mix
EOTech's customer service is one of the best.
Sent mine back as it drifted badly. Bummed as I really liked it but it shifted twice and I had to waste ammo rezeroing.
They said they would replace the product as well, but I'm confused as to if the problem was fixed?? Is the product being replaced with another that has all the issues resolved? thanks for the video
Sig Romeo4C Super No drift
I just hope they actually fix the thermal drift issue to at least a certain degree; the sights are aesthetically and ergonomically the best and the reticle is perfect IMO, I don't want to have to switch to Aimpoint just because these guys fucked up some government contracts.
5 moa shift……….omg…
