  1. I'm a Security Officer in Texas, I purchased the hl Strion a few months back, well it decided to play hide and seek from me, still can't find the damn thing. Anyways I'm picking up the new stinger ds hl, the 24000 candela and 800 lumens will sure cut through the dark tinted windows on vehicles I come across. I found the Strion didn't cut through the tint even though it was 500 lumens.

  2. Just got this for Christmas after a few hints to some people. What would you recommend as a holster? I work as a paramedic that works 24 hour shifts and take my pants off when I hit the bunk, setting it up on the floor to throw on quick. I've seen a duty holster that is open top and bottom, a nylon with button holster that is open bottom, and a full leather holster with button.

  3. Amazing. I had a regular incandescent Stinger that I used for years until I replaced that with the (at the time) new LED Stinger which was amazingly bright, compared to the incandescent bulb. A few months ago, my LED Stinger grew legs and walked away so I ordered this for a replacement and HOLY CRAP! This thing is seriously bright! Ridiculously bright! And the nice thing is that Streamlight hasn't changed the charger for years, so if you've previously owned a Stinger, even way back to the old incandescent bulb days, you can still use the same charger and save some money by buying the flashlight only. This is an amazing product and I'm constantly impressing my co-workers with how bright it is.

  4. This is the same flashlight I carry as my go to duty light. Well was the same. It had been nothing but problems from about 6 months after getting it in 2012.

Issues started with what seemed like a dying battery, but only after 6 months. Replaced the battery and light was ok fir about 6 more months. Then the tail cap button stopped working, replaced that and we were off again.

Then maybe another 6 months later the main issue started. The light randomly would stop working. It was like there was no battery in it at all. Just nothing. The sometimes worked great, other times I'd turn it on and it would last about 10-30 seconds on a fresh charge then fizzle off and go out. Then an hour later when I'd test it would work flawlessly.

Because of the reliability issues I stopped carrying it. I did however go back to my original still get I've had since 2004.

I've looked up issues with the DS and found that it appears to have been a problematic light with numerous issues. However some have had fantastic luck with it. I guess I just wasn't one of those lucky people.

I don't know that I would purchase another streamlight product based on my experience. I've seen most departments in my area at least have also switched to surefire. I've never used a surefire light so can't say anything about it.

  5. This is my duty light the other day it took a crap on me and it won't turn off, my lens is scratched pretty good, but still works. Yours is in pretty shape, mine is beat up it takes the beating I place on it in the Patrol climbing mountains. I am about to send it in for repair solid light!

  6. I would stand behind this product any day. Thats the one great thing about youtube.. Most are not being paid by companies to review items so you get that persons up front honest opinion of a product.
