Streamlight EDC flash light* –

Surefire 6PX –

This video walks through the criteria I use in selecting an everyday (EDC) carry flashlight. When I approach illumination tools, I am always most interested in what could help me when a fight in a low light environment. I do regularly carry a gun with a pistol light attached to it, but I still have my reasons why I want a handheld light such as the Streamlight Protac 2L-X that I recommend or the Surefire 6PX which is also a good light.

  1. As someone that worked night shift patrol for 3 years these are my following observations on lights: Streamlite OR surefire… nothing else. Never depend on rechargeable batteries. Regular CR123's last long enough that you should just have 2 or 6 somehwere in your kit and when your light goes dead you just replace them. I would typically go months on a single set of batteries despite working non stop. You just never really turn on all 500 lumens for a solid 90 minutes. I replaced 123's in all kinds of tactical environments despite 'PCC's'. It's just something you gotta come to terms with when you live in the darkness.

  2. John I have been in Law Enforcement for 27 years. The VAST majority of officers use Streamlight products. Dollar for dollar they are every bit as good as a surefire. I have had the same stinger for 17 years and except for batteries being replaced every 5 years or so it works as good as when new.

  3. Love this channel. You got a new subscriber…clicked the Like button. QUESTION FOR THE SUBSCRIBERS: I have to travel to London, England where you are left defenseless. You can't even pack a legal pocket knife (3" or less and non-assisted, must lock out and fold completely) if your intention for carrying it is self-defense!!!! So what torch would you suggest for under $100 that could give me the means to run from a bad situation. Of course I don't plan on going into the badlands at night but London has had a crime wave as of late. THANKS!

  4. Just make sure you're buying your batteries for my reputable company a lot of company sell old rewrap 18 650 batteries. They have a recharge life of 300 to 500 charges period for batteries I highly recommend the Samsung 25r hours or the LG Chocolate Browns. You should be able to find them for about 6 bucks a piece online and far as Chargers Efest should be about $15

  6. For all those great things on the model you reviewed (I'm sold), how does the spring clip hold hold up? I expect it will always be the weak point carry wise in all lights. Still it's a PITA when it eventually craps out due to constant use. Is it replaceable or does the quality match the more important components?

  7. Surefire edclt-2 It’s everything this light can do but with 1,200 lumens. Also k2 energy makes rechargeable and long lasting cr123 batteries. Also it’s a Surefire. 🙂

  8. Hey John, I lost my old trusty fenix PD35TAC out in the field doing corpsman coverage under some damn ospreys!! So I picked up a Streamlight Protac 2L-X, I don't know if it was just my light but, it crapped out on me within 2 hours of owning it. I used their batteries at first but, switched to an 18650 and it crapped out. The batter was fine, I used it one of my wife's flashlights and it worked fine. Is that a typical streamlight thing?

  9. Not a fan of Streamlight the company, but if you're a first responder, in emergency management or a private citizen looking for a quality reliable light – you have to check their stuff out! My duty light, my back up light, my headlamp, my spotlight, my pistol light and the light mounted on my shotgun were all Streamlights. The area lighting that I had in the trunk was Streamlight, as well. My local FD issues helmet lights, flash lights, spotlights, area lighting and lightboxes all made by Streamlight, as well. Quality built stuff, sometimes you get a lemon, but customer service will bend over to help you. I'm a Surefire fanboy, but I rely on Streamlight
