Must Have Sub Gun? CMMG MkG 9mm

This might be our favorite PCC we’ve tested yet. OK technically it is a pistol AR9 with a brace but thankfully those distinctions are blurred nowadays. But the CMMG “Guard,” I’ll call it the MKG in the review mostly, is excellent. This is a super compact 9mm sub-type gun that all shooters liked. It features an innovative radial bolt carrier group that’s ready to adapt to more powerful rounds; it’s not a simple blowback.

It’s expensive…almost ridiculously so and that might hurt it in sales. Some will still choose to roll their own or opt for a more affordable AR9 like the Palmetto. Also you’ll see in the review, I maintain they’re should be more value in the component selections for this price. But the important aspects of SAWC are nailed in this design.

That wouldn’t mean much if it didn’t shoot well. But in this Nutnfancy GRV you’ll see the MkG Guard is reliable, super light weight, and accurate. Not a first choice for me in GTW but if you’re system is needing a compact AR9, the Guard is highly recommended.

The Trijicon MRO sights are great but over hyped [reviewers get them for free], just get the Holosun sight, save $200 and be happy:

  1. Appreciate the review. This will now be on my wish list as a truck gun. Will wait to see if the price comes down before buying. Just a little too pricy right now. Wish you would have discussed POU for the .45 caliber version of this as it is also available.

  2. Great quality content as usual. In terms of this PCC though? Hell no. 5.56mm/shouldered case is the way to go. I've seen too many people shot with pistols to believe in these calibers. Rifle cal or bust -I can understand a hobby gun, but for real shit? Nah. Great video, thanks!

  3. Ask Gunnies if you can get your hands on a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor for review, most of them shoot .5 MOA even with cheap ammo like Hornady American gunner! Shoot about 40-100 rounds to build up some copper fouling and they'll really shoot great!

  4. Ah a NFA "Pistol" don't you love how "gun laws" make no sense? I am invested already in 10mm, .45ACP, .300BLK, 7.62*39, 7.62NATO and 12g.

Honestly for home defense in an apartment, I would recommend a PCC in .45ACP.

  5. $1200 for a PCC… what a joke. you can get a damn good AR15 or AK for that price, or a budget AR10. the only PCC id want to own would be some type of .45 as a suppressor host. that would be a decent home defense gun with minimal hearing damage. a rifle is still better though despite the hearing damage.

  6. I think in one of your videos you should speak to fitness. I see many guys that will spend thousands of dollars on very high dollar lightweight kit but wont spend 20 minutes three times a week to lose their belly. If you're overweight and think you're going to hump a real "GTW" kit (100+lbs) onto the battlefield, you need to do some fully loaded practice runs. Take a look at the guys that are living on a battlefield (deployed soldiers and Marines that actually patrol) and you will notice that they are all extremely fit. Simply standing guard for 10+ hours in full armor and load out is very difficult if you're out of shape.

  7. Great review as always!!! Noticed that blue Spyderco on the table…I have the exact same one and I swear I bought mine after watching a vid you did on those but I can't find it now. One of my favorite knives and the one I've gotten the nasties cut with LOL.

  8. I think a pcc with a arm brace is one of the best firearm purchases you can make. In many states you can keep them loaded in a vehicle bc it’s a hand gun. Even if you get a rifle caliber. I think this gun would make a amazing truck or even bike gun.

  9. 😀😀. Still rocking the Holosun 403C
I'm digging my new 503GU Elite. New Green redical
    with auto wake…
    Check it out!
    Nice looking watch.
To each his own…I'm sticking with my 14.7" rifle. 😁

  10. More often than not, pistol carbines aren't tnp's favorite, and not mine either, thats what helped see honesty in this channel. They have a place, and convince, but can't beat a rifle that's exactly the same size, and mildly heavier

  11. I see in gun magazines with Ke-tec recall notices stating the barrels are improperly heat treated possibly causing injuries or death…. Dont think I can trust that sub 2000…..

  12. I think extar has the best sub gun on the market right now. $500 comes with SB brace, has ar fire control group and ar style controls. Did I mention it can be had in 10mm? None reciprocating side charge similar to the mp5 in function. How about that last bolt hold open that 90% of sub gun variants overlook. It’s every bit as good as the cmmg for a fraction of the price. I’ll be honest if the cmmg was a little more reasonable in price I’d probably put it above just cause it’s better known and has much more history to go on. But when I walk into the gun store and see a rifle and PCC side by side for same price we all go for the rifle every time. PCC need to be pistol priced.

I keep holding my breath that one day someone will perfect the feeding of 357mag in autoloaders and then make an ar style riffle or PCC in that chambering. I think 357 from a longer barrel really bridges the gap between pistol caliber and rifle caliber. The one true round that can really pick up a lot of speed with barrel length and proper rifle HP are already common

  13. Good video as always. I like mine. I get better accuracy out of mine but I'm running 147s. Wife loves it also. I agree it really is geared towards a cqb environment. I love my sub 2000s also. I really like them all but my go to is an sbr 556.

  14. I joined Patreon because it shows my favorite channels without any censorship and or threat of deletion. I also don't mind funding a channel this allows you to help them provide high quality reviews and help you make educated decisions, give you valuable information/data that you may not have time to do yourself as well as entertainment. Thanks again NF

  15. For 9mm carbine penetration at distance, check Iraq8888 shooting Keltec Sub 2000. Penetrated 3/4 plywood at 400 yds. Basically said would penetrate as far as you could hit anything without a scope.

  16. The reason people aren't watching your reviews has nothing to do with your honest opinions or "harsh criticism"; people get tired of listening to you talking for 45 minutes. If you shortened the format to about 20 minutes and stopped repeating things over again in different ways, you'd probably start getting more views again.
