Since the CMMG Mk3 DTR2 is a semiautomatic rifle capable of very precise shooting, let’s see how quickly it can connect with small targets at a variety of ranges.

Equipment used in this shoot:
1. CMMG Mk3 DTR2 AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmoor
2. Bushnell HDMR-II rifle scope:
3. Leapers UTG Recon Flex M-Lok Bipod:
4. Protektor Rear Bag:
5. Bushnell Engage 10x42mm Binoculars:
6. Champion AR500 Pop-Up Target 14×4:
7. Champion AR500 Pop-Up Target 20×6:
8. Champion Duraseal Clay Pigeon Holders:
9. Nikon Monarch 3000 STABILIZED Rangefinder:

We used 140-grain Hornady BTHP Match bullets and Alliant Reloder 16 powder in my handloads, which print groups smaller than .5 MOA and have proven to be effective at ranges anywhere from 100 to 1,760 yards. Here are some of the challenges we’ve filmed for the rifle so far:

1. Mk3 vs Moving Targets:
2. Mk3 at 1,000 Yards:
3. Mk3 at One Mile:

In today’s challenge, we placed one of the new Champion AR500 popper targets at 180 yards, Champion Duraseal Clay Pigeon Holders (previously reviewed: at 240 yards, a larger Champion AR500 pop-up target at 360 yards, and finally a full-size steel IPSC target at 425 yards. I verified the distances using the revolutionary Nikon Monarch 3000 stabilized rangefinder (

We each had ten shots to place two on each of the steel targets and one on a clay pigeon, which meant that we had three extra shots available if we missed a shot. This was a fun scenario; more frantic than the Unknown Distance Challenge we’ve shot with the Savage Model 10 GRS and the Savage Stealth Evolution.
