Carbon fiber is well-suited to the tough tasks assigned to cleaning rods. It combines the best features of stainless steel and coated cleaning rods, then adds valuable properties of its own. Stainless steel rods can scratch or wear barrels if they’re used carelessly – though they won’t pick up potentially damaging small abrasive particles. -InchCoated-Inch rods get part of the job done – they keep the stainless steel shaft from damaging your barrel’s rifling, but the coating will pick up small abrasive particles, which means you’re effectively running fine-grit sandpaper through your bore. Carbon fiber rods are the best of both: the carbon fiber can’t scratch your bore like stainless steel, and they won’t embed like coated rods. Plus, Carbon Fiber rods can be bent to an extreme degree and return to their original straightness.Rifle rods are threaded for 8-32 accessories, except 17 caliber rods which are threaded 5-40.

Does it have male or female threads?
Yup, one of it's nicer properties is it's affinity to snap right at the handle juncture, right when your pushing a tight patch through…..and that sudden "oopsy" feeling as the jagged shards of fiber go deep into the palm of your hand. Read the reviews people….it happens often….and one person I know still has nerve damage.
vsaluki, The length is a personnal choice. If your rod to bows while pushing it through the rifle bore it will scratch. A boreguide will help prevent the damage. As for length, you want your rod to be long enough to peak out the crown of your barrel (where the bullet EXITS the barrel) about 1" when you have pushed it through. Some prefer to push from BEHIND stock; others prefer to push ABOVE stock. Decide which works best for your rifle and measure. Handle is NOT included in measurement. 😉
Very nice video, thanks for showing with the magnifier. That really helped.
Hi i'm thinking of buying a tipton, but before spending like 30 dollars on it. I was wondering if the 17-45 cal version would clean a mosin 91 30, and a saiga 12 18inch shotgun? Thanks Shane
@PlLKY Im sure you could make do with the smaller of the two to do both but with a bigger bore it would be better to have a bigger cleaning rod. With all the money we have into our gear its worth the money to do the job right. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for watching and let me know how you make out.
@Theshooter1614 Opps… LOL… Yeah thats what I meant. Thanks
Wait did you say 17-45mm? 0:59 Thats huge!!! You meant 17-45 caliber.
@TheGunSpot Yeah… These cleanning rods are the real deal… Not the cheapest out there but how much is your barrel bore worth to you… Thanks for watching and let me know if you need any more info.
I NEED to get one of these for the AK. I am useing the guns factory cleaning rod and it send chills up my spine while I hear scrape after scrape while cleaning!!!!
@willwood487 I really like these cleanning rods… They are not the best but well worth the money and they work great. I got the 36inch for both… Thanks for watching.
I have to look into getting one of these. my standard brass rods or too short to reach all the way trough a m91/30 with a 48/12 in bbl. i have to take off the t handle to clean the mosins
