Taking a look at ar uppers and comparing them side by side. The goal was to give some good basic information to the beginner or even experienced ar enthusiast. We talk about some of the terminology used in describing different combinations. The basic nomenclature is similar across the platforms but it may help you ask the correct questions when you are looking to purchase. If you haven’t seen my AR 15 lower buyers guide check it out down below. It may answer some of your questions on that subject also. This I believe will be a great series to point you to the right direction. Whether your looking to buy a complete rifle or build a parts gun if a question is not answered here comment please. No matter if its here or on facebook where I tend to respond quicker. As always thanks for watching and your support!

  1. Thank you very great video I’m building my 1st ar I have a complete lower now and looking through the options of an upper ! I’m on a budget but you just answered many questions I had !

  2. Want a good upper that’ll last for serious use? Any upper made by BCM. Bcm seriously makes the best uppers, lowers, bcgs, complete rifles you can own. 100% mil-spec, but also built with 100% pride. They aren’t terribly expensive like a Daniel defense, but you basically are getting Daniel defense quality for mid range price. You can get one of the best uppers on the market for 5-6 hundred dollars. Slap that on any decent lower you can get, and you got one of the best ar 15s on the market. Also you can’t go wrong with a plain Jane colt 6920 upper. Not the expanse model.

  3. "Assault weapons"?…..You don't even show a single firearm in this video, definitely no assault weapons.

I guess people can appreciate your efforts but you really don't know what you're talking about and it makes you really sound like a bozo……Before attempting to speak about a specific firearm or firearm components, you really should be educated on the platform you are attempting to explain, before babbling on in a video.

  4. Hey brother, hope you get this and could help out. 1st appreciate the video. I've had an mossberg MMR tactical for a couple years. Looking to drop in a new trigger, grip and possibly replace with a complete upper receiver. Im having trouble finding specs on what will fit (snug) and not blow up in my face. If you could help me out with what specs I should be looking for in these areas (barrel twist? Mil spec/commercial?) it would be huge!

  5. OK, my limited understanding is that both A3 and A4 flat tops have picatinny rails, but the difference is the former requires the installation of the forward assist assembly and ejection port cover assembly, the latter does not. Now, I'm trying to figure out wth the forward assist assembly is and whether I want it, and if the latter doesn't have an ejection port cover assembly, then what does it have or require instead. So this video didn't help.

  6. Ok. The M16A1 has a short flash suppressor that is vented 360 degrees. The hand guards have a smooth non-textured appearance. No dust cover or forward assist. The weapon is equipped with a safe, semi, & auto selector switch.

The M16A2 has a longer "birdcage" flash suppressor. Not vented on the bottom to control muzzle rise. Hand guards have a ribbed texture. They were outfitted with a dust cover and a forward assist. The weapon is equipped with a safe, semi, and burst (3 round burst) selector switch. To conserve ammo while in combat.

Both were equipped with a bayonet lug.

  7. It needs to be said that the AR platform was designed with a 20 inch barrel in mind.  An AR will operate at it s peak capabilities with a 20 inch barrel.

  8. Thanks for the info, I learned a lot…… I'm getting ready to do my first build. I'm not sure if i should buy a complete upper or put one together. Installing a barrel doesnt look hard, but from what i seen on another video, the bolt carrier has be done perfect. Any advice will be greatly appreciated..

  9. IF and that's IF this video is referring to the four variations on M16s this video is flat out wrong.  If you're referring to something else there's a chance it could be legitimate.  M16A3 and M16A4 were identical guns.  Except, the A4 was burst while the A3 is full auto.  BOTH have fixed front sites, not pop up.  Totally incorrect.  Also the M16A1 and M16A2 had a HUGE difference.  The M16A1 had a pencil barrel.

  10. Thanks for the info. Not new to guns but new to the AR 15 and interested in a build. With the magnitude of different receivers on the market I wasn't sure exactly where to begin. I couldn't tell much difference between most of them, other than price. But your vid was very informative. I do have one question….I'm looking to do a 223 5.56 build. Do I need to buy an upper that is labeled for both or is it fine to buy a 5.56 NATO upper. Also do they make the uppers in 223/5.56 or is the upper a 5.56 which is capable of handling 223 also. Sorry hope that's not a confusing question. Also is there a special kit for building the lower to accommodate 223/5.56 or is it based solely on the upper. Thanks in advance

  11. "Assault Weapons" have a select fire ability (semi auto, full auto, burst fire). These are semi auto only and are therefore not assault weapons. They are semi auto rifles.

  12. stop saying evil. i know you're saying it sarcastically but still. that is more than enough that a part of this county or world think that way. just try to get rid of that habit. if you don't get why is it important, just get some knowledge in psychology. you'll see it

  13. As long as its got a shell deflector, its no big deal shooting an AR if your a lefty.  But only a self centered idiot would tell a left hander, whos considering buying a gun made for a left hander, to suck it up.

Hey, got an idea..  Get an AR without a shell deflector, then shoot it left handed.

    SUCK THAT UP buttercup

  14. @10:50: suck it up. LOL. Obviously you haven't had backwash from a gun blowing in your face. As a leftie, I've suffered through the domination of the right handed gun industry and am looking forward to a 3rd generation AR variant, the Beretta ARX100. It has fully ambidextrous options which makes it superior to the earlier variants. There are also the bullpups to consider, several of which outshine the uppers mentioned for their useability. All in all, though, a good vid. Thanks.

  15. at the end of this video you said your videos are long, boring, and stupid. They are not, I had to watch it about 4 times to get everything you was saying. You really packed a lot of really good information in this video. I am going to be building my own AR15. This helps me in making a more wise decision on how to set up the top receiver. Thanks, really great video, one of the best I have seen on YT in this topic, very well said.
