Summary of Aimpoint vs EOTech:
1. Both are super reliable and provide immeasurable advantage over iron sights with “both eyes open” aiming.
2. Aimpoint has EOTech beat on battery life- your weapon is always ready.
3. EOTech has a less-obstructed viewing window- the Aimpoint has the battery compartment and adjustment switches cut into your sight picture.
4. Look through an EOTech targeting window is like looking at an FPS video game hud, whereas looking through an Aimpoint is like looking down a tube. Advantage= EOTech
5. The EOTech‘s large window and elaborate reticle may help you find the dot faster than an Aimpoint. The elaborate reticle may annoy you. You might prefer the simplicity of a single dot. There’s almost no way to know which you prefer unless you try it out in person. (You also might have astigmatism, which makes the EOTech reticle all-but completely useless for you.)
6. Aimpoint PRO with the OEM mount and the EOTechs weight about the same. The Aimpoint Micro is a game changer when it comes to size and weight efficiency.
7. Aimpoint has many reliable, high quality alternatives under $200. EOTech‘s holographic technology is exclusive to EOTech sights.

  1. Why do you co-witness? Just curious, and please don't take this as negative criticism, but to me, it seems useless to spend a lot of money on an optic if all your gonna do is line that red dot on the front sight post. In that case, you're better off saving money buy using your iron sights.

  2. If your rifle looked that shinny and pretty in Afghanistan ,you will get smoked and your rifle will aquire shit ton of dust making it pretty much worthless. And therefor endagering ,fellow soldiers ,. HEY NICE INFORMATIVE VIDEO THO.đŸ˜€ I

  3. Nobody talks about this but I will. I have an EOTech and a couple of other single-dot RD sights. No, it's not Aimpoint but the point is still valid. EOTech reticle is far quicker to pick up than a single dot. If you got a dark background and/or have brightness turned up to medium or higher, it's not so much a problem but during the day or against light background, picking up single dot takes materially longer. EOTech's 68 MOA outer ring makes it far more easier and faster to pick up. And there are other quick reference advantages: 1). The ring is the height of an average person (5ft 8in) at 100 yds. 2). For typical 50 or 100yd zeroes, put the bottom of the ring on target at 20yds or less for dead-on hits. You have to guess with single dot RDS. Maybe hittng 2.5in low at close ranges is an acceptable margin of error. Or maybe it isn't. EOTech reticle is superior to any single-dot reticle.

  4. In 2015, the U.S. Government sued EOTech for civil fraud, accusing it of covering up defects in the sights that it knew about as early as 2006. The first defect was "thermal drift", which causes the aiming point to shift in high or low temperatures by as much as 12" at 300 yards. The second was "moisture incursion" or "reticle fade", which causes the viewing glass to fog up and the aiming point to lose brightness.[5] EOTech settled for $25.6 million, and fixed the "moisture incursion" defect. However, as of April 2016 it reported that it could not cure the thermal drift defect. Thousands of EOTech sights are used by federal law enforcement and military, including special forces.[6]

  5. Very informative video. Also, ignore the guys who run their weapons dry… you are spot on… metal on metal isn't good. Run them WET. Oil and or grease well, wipe off the excess. Tractors, chainsaws or weapons… keep them well lubed!

  6. I like EOTech as well as Aimpoint. I have and use the EOTech 518, the Aimpoint CompM4 as well as the Trijicon ACOG. This is also my order of preference. For close quarters or shots within 100 yards (for me) I like the 518 best of the three. However, I would take any of the three into a firefight in a heartbeat.

  7. you made a great video and I hope that you research what I'm about to tell you the Parallax on the AimPoint at a hundred yards if you go to the either left or to the right as far as you can without losing sight of your. You'll see that your shots will be 12 in off and with the EOTech it's about an inch and a half to 2 inches off Target I'm not saying that everybody shoots in awkward positions but I did put both of these sites to the test I hope to try out other sites as well but I was concerned that I was off Target by 12 in so I see that there is a parallax difference this doesn't make or break the site but if you are shooting from a covered corn and rely on The Parallax then you're going to be off Target with the AimPoint
