  1. Just an FYI for prospective buyers of laser range finders: the same laws of physics for light apply to all lasers – lasers are just "coherent" light waves. So trying to use a laser through a pane of glass won't work. Neither will aiming the laser at black or non-reflective surfaces and even those which are at an angle to you and the laser beam (the beam is "refracted" and doesn't bounce back to the laser light detector). The foregoing means the user will encounter "inconsistent" results and my think it's a defective product. It's not defective, there's nothing manufacturers can do to overcome the laws of physics.
