The CMMG Mk4 DTR .224 Valkyrie Rifle. Maintaining Supersonic Speed past 1300 yards, this is a caliber to check out for long range precision shooting.

Seems they have done all the upgrades for the buyer with a great trigger and barrel on the rifle. The round is interesting. Please don't tempt me to get into long range shooting!!! I've spent enough!
Nice video Sootch!
Isn't this massively over-gassed? Because of the length of the barrel after the gas ports?
Great review, very good explanation. It will be my next project. Thumps up
You should do a review on a 270AR
Cool round, but I'll stick with the 6.5 grendel.
From other videos and testing Im gunna say CMMG sent you a cherry picked rifle. No one else is getting the accuracy it claims. Even JP said its not getting up to par for their supermatch stamp of approval
The most important question though is what is the practical purpose of this round? For distance and a punch out of your ar, 6.5 Grendel is the answer. .224 is a great target round…but would you ever use it for something else?
Choose one..grendal or valkyrie?
Excellent cartridge, excellent ballistics! It just might be the next go-to long range sniper in my arsenal, whether a CMMG Mk4 or something else. I've been interested in the .224 Valkyrie for several months now, thanks.
Another thing, I installed a Geissele SSA-E on my 16" 1:7 M4 a a few years ago. Completely changed the characteristics of the firearm. Fantastic trigger, light and crisp. CMMG made a great choice putting it on this rifle.
Thanks again, Sootch. Love your videos, brother.
I mean how much better 224 is then 223 , more power more damage faster. ..is it worth buying that caliber next to 223/5.56 ? …
Great review! Very fitting to mention Norse mythology ! Enjoyed the video.
According Alexander Arm's Chart with a 19.4" barrel the 6.5 grendel Lapua 123 g scenar has -226.58" drop/energy 441 pound/1270 fps/wind drift=??? at 1000 yard. The Valkyrie sound good but Grendel is Still the KING for me.
Sounds cool but… it's still a ar15 not really a long range setup I'll stick with a bolt 22 creedmoore
I'd really need to shoot it and handle it. I'm just wondering if at that weight and length if an AR-10 in a 6mm cartridge wouldn't be better after considering application of the rifle. A couple extra pounds and a good brake or can and the recoil difference is a wash.
Sootch I love this video! well done my friend….
So can anyone tell me if I built the 224 Valkyrie with a 1/12 or 1/0 twist barrel and loaded it with 40 or 45 gr bullet would I have a 22-250 in a AR 15 platform could I get 4000 + fps out of this case with a little bullet ( for prairie dogs of course )
Great vids man! Thanks! Im british so I have to live vicariously, as far as my interest in weapons goes. You and you're gun channel colleagues make my hobby cheap and legal 😉
Bla bla bla …..243 has been doing this since 1955. uh duh……6mm to 1000………Why are we talking about this?
Great looking firearm and great video explaining drop and wind drift.
Can you shoot the 25-45 out to 1000 yards? I'm not sure what your long distance shooting experience is but it seems like once this round was zeroes you could land them time and time again. I am wondering if the 25-45 is as easy / user friendly!
I wonder if this Gun will lower the the price of 6.5 creedmore down.
Sootch00 have you tested the .277 wolverine or the Wilson Tactical 7.62 x 40mm?
Seems awesome. But I'm just now getting into the 6.5 creedmoor which I have been reloading for a few years now. I am a huge 308 fan, and I just can't justify all these fancy calibers yet. 6.5 creedmoor is great. I have a savage ba stealth. Awesome gun with great accuracy. But for SHTF I still think 308 is the way to go.
It has some cost to it ,but CMMG has put it together for you. Sweet trigger btw.
Nice !
How is the barrel life? Hopefully better than the .243?
Great video brother.
I am starting to think you don’t need a babysitter.
6.5 Grendel is superior in my opinion
Another camera down by the target would have been cool.
Cmmg is garbage. Anything to save a buck. No one with decent gun knowledge wants to pay out the ass for a gun with 416 or 4140 steel. Psa has better specs(416r or 4150cmv) at a third the price
This is one of the most impressive rifles I've seen you review… Sootch00, you need to find a way to buy that rifle, son! Two thumbs waaaaay up! LLTR!!
Thank you for adding onto my firearm addiction. Lol
the 224 is the real deal man
1K! on Likes…
But why would you ever neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to shoot that far 😉 cuz its a nice challenge 😀
Oh man, Sootch! Thanks for a "SOUPER", "UBER" review! Just beautiful… worth every minute!
I've seen the American Eagle ball ammo at Academy Sports for $10.99 a box. Fusion 100 grain soft points are $22.99.
I want this caliber in an affordably priced bolt rifle platform with a 24in medium contoured barrel for target/varmint shooting.
Never go full retail.
What power scope are you using?
I can see the 224 Valkyrie repack the 556 in military appreciation
CMMG has just a 20 inch barrel for about 10 bucks more than palmetto sell their 18 for. I'm gonna jump on their barrel when i can so i can finish my .224 Mk12 build
Hey Sootch00, just finishing a 6.5 Grendel build !!
Can you tell me what is the Bi-Pod your using ?
