The longer tube does not allow longer travel at allows the longer buffer that is needed for the rifle application
Why you building ghost guns bro
Except ick… on that rifle stock. What you want is this… http://www.primaryarms.com/MAG672-BLK
Bad trade!
Would adding a adjustable gas block be the best thing? Or would it not , because the gun is under gassed?
Bro mine is a short barrel i belive its a 16 or 18 in barrel but mine is giving me the same issue where i got to recharge and shoot or it wont put the next bullet up the chamber or wont eject it, and double feed will accure and also it wont stay open when the last bullet is shot
so much misinformation
As I am new to the AR platform I am learning something new everyday, and I just learned something new! Thanks for sharing.
What do you think would happen if you had a rifle stock on a SBR? I ask because I am exceptional tall.
I want to build a retro 608 rifle with 16" barrel. Do I need a common A1 buffer tube assembly? Are there even carbine length buffer tubes? I only find pistol length and then rifle length.
It’s just under gassed. This video is going to miss lead many new AR builders. I’d take it down.
Thanks just had that problem now I know what to do
You don't need to have a fixed A1/A2 stock for a longer barrel. Just need the correct buffer, spring, and gas flow. To tell everyone that you need a fixed rifle stock with a longer barrel is incorrect.
I built something similar with a 20" barrel. Replaced carbine buffer with H2 for short stroking. Problem solved. Ejecting perfect at that 3:30 position. Just as soft shooter as my standard 20" bushmaster ar.
I just put my first one together with a carbine buffer tube and rifle gas system. it cycled like crap today. This is prolly the problem. thx for video
Will a 18 inch rifle barrel work with carbine buffer?
The Mark 12 SPR, (carried one Iraq and built many) has a rifle length gas tube with a 6 POS carbine buffer system.
Load em hot. It'll cycle
Just wondering what changed. Was there not enough space for the buffer to travel past the next round before bottoming? It does need a little overtravel… Did the spring have too much tension? Did the bolt and buffer have too much inertia? Did the gas tube have to much back pressure?AR's are like tuning engines. The heavier the moving parts. The harder the recoil. But the harder the spring. The harder it is on the parts
this peaked my interest, ive not fully understood the difference, at least now i know why i dont uderstand, i had replaced my comm tube with a mil spec tube in order to change my but stock, that was more than i anticipated. i was fortunate enough to get some well needed guidence from an ar forum, i ended up measuring and filing the tube then the buffer itself to let it properly cycle and lock open, i really appreciate the format of this video, not everyone is born an expert in firearms but sorry to say after reading some comments here some people are born douchebags, thanks for the insite
please explain the M16A4…I'd love to hear that
what's the real benefit of having a long range ar15 when you can probably save money and build a nice ar10? 18inch barrel on a properly configured ar10 is 1000 yards easy with real power behind it. plus it gives you the option to suppress with out having an insainly long upper with the can on it.
Well that will solve my issue
What about an 18" barrel?
Had a 16' barrel mid length gas system with a rifle length buffer tube and kept getting short strokes. Took the rifle length buffer out (note, the buffer or "weight", not the tube and spring) and plopped a carbine buffer in…now it works like a charm. I dont understand, but it works.
