Detent springs and pins achieving Low Earth Orbit is an expected risk of building a lower…
This is a great video I used to build my lower with the CMMG lower parts kit. Helped out a lot.
the cmmg gun builder's kit doesn't come with a pistol grip screw
The grip screw was too long for me…
for the pivot detent, use an exato knife blade to hold the detent in and slip in the pin.
Well done video CMMG! Between the color coded bags and this video you made the whole process EASY and enjoyable! Thanks! On that Pivot Detent & Spring – that's an AR thing – not a CMMG issue. Yes I did launch it into the air three friggin times but just like everyone else who's commented – we all came up with our own unique way to resolve the issue. In my case I used a very thin flathead screw driver used it to hold in the Pivot Detent & Spring as I placed the Pivot Pin in. I merely slipped the flathead screwdriver out as the Pivot Pin took.
Great Vid! Don't know why all the bitching about the Pivot Detent & Spring. I did it holding the upper in my lap with NO tools. Went in smooth as butter! Take one look at it and you know it's a Jaysus spring.(As in "JAYsus! Where did that detent go!) Just depress the detent with the Pivot Pin and slide it into place. And Don't F it up!
To install the Pivot detent spring – make your own tool using a chop stick. 1. Trim the stick at the diameter that slides through the pin holes. 2. drill a hole thru the chopstick piece large enough to inset a jeweler's screwdriver, you may need this to depress the spring. 3. or; Insert spring and pin through chopstick hole, fully depress while sliding the chopstick through the pivot holes. 4. Follow, or push the chopstick out using the front take-down pin. 5. Voila! (that's French for Wow, looky there!)
Me and a buddy built 2 lowers Tuesday night and this video took out all the guess work. Thanks!
ITS Tactical has a "live action" video series that is very informative. It details necessary tools and optional tools. I have used it several times and highly recommend it. There are alot of videos on youtube on how to do this. ITS is the best I've found.
Thanks a million
If I never see a Pivot spring detent again in my entire life it will be too fucking soon.
Thank you so much, my first build I just got the lower and lower kit this morning and got home watched the video and put everything together. very easy to follow video. Great job
Probably the most simple, straight forward and helpful video on youtube on how to install a LPK.
Ottimo video..
Watched the video and it took me maybe 20 minutes to install my first lower kit. Couldn't be easier. Many thanks!
Great video very simple step-by-step help love it
do you have a video for the stage 2 trigger install?
This video is magnitudes more helpful than anything else I've found. Most videos like this star one guy trying to do all this with one hand holding a camera, and the other hand doing a better job of blocking the camera's view than actually putting together the rifle.
