  1. I got a pair of monarch 5. 20 x 50 . Iv taken them in 4 times for repair . And now I have fungus growing on the left internal lens .wich is spreading across glass. And also the eye caps are flimsy and don't stay on the lens when you put them on.

  2. Thank you for the great insightful reviews as always. You checked for fungus inside the binoculars by shining light through it.

These are nitrogen filled and water proof aren't they. Does fungus grow inside them if not kept inside dry cabinets?

  3. I recently took up birding, I purchased Maven C1 10×42 initially and I do like them. After watching so many of your reviews I also opted for the 8×42 Monarch 7 which I think just edge the Maven overall. I also purchased a Pentax PF80 EDA scope. I knew little about optics 6 months ago but thanks to you I have a much better idea of what to look for. I may consider a pair of Alphas once I gain more experience. No one reviews better than yourself, I would put you at the Zeiss victory level ! So many thanks from across the pond for your genuine honest reviews.

  4. Looking between monarch 7 and viper hd in both 10×42 for hunting principaly but ill get in in the field with me everytimw, in hike, birdind, trekking, everyting. Do you have a person al idea of which youll take? Thanks! Your vidéo is awesome

  5. Thanks for the great videos. I have another question for you. I am ready to pull the trigger to buy a set of binoculars. I watched your videos ,but would like your option which one to buy for birding, the Vortex Viper HD 8 x 42 or the Nikon Monarch 7 8 x 42 Roof Prism ED ATB Water/Fogproof Binoculars?

  6. Hello Optica E. Sub #417 checking in. Been culling thru the many reviews regarding the 8×42 Monarch 7’s and the Viper HD’s. I’ve really enjoyed your reviews and has helped me recognize the differences and similarities between the two brands. I’m ready to open my wallet and pretty certain I’ve decided on going Nikon M7’s. The FOV is impressive and seems like that will benefit my using habits best as an occasional birder, a beach comber and a general sight seeing hound. I believe I’m willing to sacrifice a bit better sharpness thru the glass that Viper offers for the better greens and blues you describe with the Nikon’s, the great FOV, the feel of the bins in hand and the better appearance/ feel of construction the M7’s have. Unless you can sway me towards the Viper HD’s I’m 95% committed to buying the Nikon Monarch 7 this week. I will likely upgrade the strap to a Viper strap and yes, those Nikon cup caps look like they suck. Oh well. It’s trade offs and what one feels is important, right? And although the Viper warranty is better, I think the Nikon warranty is adequate for my needs and history of using nice toys. Thanks for the reviews and I really gained a lot from your views thru the glass. VERY useful! So my leaning is for the Nikon Monarch 7’s. Can you talk me off the cliff before taking the plunge? Thanks for your expert insights OE!
