  1. I DON'T want that. Allen wrench to screw with basic adjustment? I was actually more excited that I could stash an allen wrench there. No padding? A complicated toy like that should have some recoil shocks or something going on. Looks like a conglomeration of poly that's meant to look cool and $160 for a pain in the ass to adjust my stock length???

  2. nice overview. that thing sure is ugly but its started to grow on me.

i was struggling over which stock to put on my FN 18" match grade sporter/SPR and just couldnt find the ideal one.
the MB-3, although ugly as sin imo and less refined is much lighter than the Magpul PRS and cheaper too while offering the same adjustability and stability.

but i went with the PRS hoping i could find a way to cut an inch or two out of it since i knew it was too long for certain shooting styles. its perfect for firing from static prone positions but i want my SPR to be capable in a DMR role and as such needs to be maneuverable and capable of more dynamic firing excersizes.
well, its too long. but i did find a way to reduce it by about 1.25" by removing the buttpad, its spacer and its carrier. basically all 3 components at the rear of the stock.

that gave it an almost ideal LOP for run 'n gun style shooting while still offering the stability of a fixed stock.
its not capable of LOP adjustment like this but i plan to fabricate a new thin aluminum buttpad carrier with a simple rubber pad attached.

that should be just about perfect. ill have a good solid stock at just the right LOP for this type rifle for DMR use and i have almost 1.5" of available extension for static firing from prone or tripod.

i dont know why Magpul made the thing so damn long. even benchrest and bipod shooters occasionally like to sling lead from a moving vehicle. right? RIGHT?

anyway, i may give the MB-3 a shot after all just to see if i may prefer it over my modded PRS.
    we'll see.
    thanks for the info.

  3. That hook in the stock isn't so your arm can fit… it's so you can hook your non shooting hand on while in the prone so that you can have a more stable shooting position.

  4. I have a MBA-1 on my large frame .308 and a MBA-3 on my small frame 6.5 Grendel. For the money, these are untouchable. I get that the lack of QD cup is a negative, but you can buy this stock plus a tube, spring, buffer and a handful of QD cups and still be 75 less (or better) than a PRS. Monmouth had them 25% off and the 3 was 126 shipped. No brainer.

  5. I used a dreamer to create a "pocket" in the cheek rest so I could use it in a shorter setting. It works great and I don't regret doing the mod at all. Great stock !! But may need a little modification for your charging handle. Another great vid:)

  6. Hi, the charging handle concern is one of my concern, I usually set my stock to the # 3 , usually 4-4.5" from the top end of the upper. Im interested to this stock for its adustability of the riser and drop of the stock, do you think I have enough clearance between the riser and charging handle?, thanks, nice video

  7. Awesome review, thanks man. I ordered one of these for my WW .308. Seems like everyone that's posted about these likes them. Time will tell!

  8. I did purchase the MBA-3 for my DPMS LR308. I also bought 2 of the quick detach inserts ( Grovtec base cups at $5.29 ea.) Simple insert and will fit most pushbutton sling swivels. Had considered the Magpul PRS but cost and weight were a factor. I like the adjustability and can overcome the charging handle issue just by lowering the cheek piece when needing to use the CH. Quick to readjust after. Some even have shaved the cheek piece and still functional. Now, I don't hunt or do 3 gun. I do bench and enjoy it. It was easy to install on my Carbine (Commercial buffer and very little rattle even before tightening down the set screw. I am 6'2" with 35 " arms…no…not a "knuckle dragger"… but it does fit me well. I can see it being as useful for smaller shooters on both the 5.56 and the 308. Good job Randy (I also understand he designed the DPMS rifles).

  9. I couldnt find the carbine version in the 308 kit so I wound up getting the fixed stock MBA-1. Still like it a lot.Have it on my TN Arms Co AR10 lower. Very light setup. I was also worried about the QD cup thing. Now I know. Great vid. THanks for the extra info!

As with the cheek riser and the charging handle. THe way mine came would allow me to charge the rifle, but not lock open the bolt, so I had to move the cheek riser back towards the butt one hole to get proper length on the charging handle to lock the bolt open.
