What kind of red AR is that?
Does your opinion on the redot change with the holosun 503 acss? Hows the Primary Arms Cyclops fit into this?
Building a cheap hunting rifle for my place and the longest shot I can take is about 120yds. I think just a red dot would be fine but really want a magnifier so my dad can use the same setup.
Just put an ACOG with red dot mounted on top and have iron back ups and your good to go. But yes, it does all depend IMO, on what your using it for.
Hey were you at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Vacaville, CA yesterday? I wanted to say hi but decided not to.
Great information. This answers a lot of questions that I had.
The think I like about a red dot with magnifier is target ID. It is possible to hit as far as you can see with a red dot but are you going to be able to ID a target (say someone with a gun) without the magnifier at range?
I am building my first AR and I've been watching a lot of videos here on Youtube and I have to say I enjoy yours the most! At first I was just going to go with a red dot with back-up iron sights and after watching this I'm changing my mind. Do you have an opinion on the quality and durability of the Primary Arms variable mag. scope? Also from your video it sounded with the VMS you don't need back-up sights. Is this correct?
Outstanding overview video. I learned a lot. Thumbs way up!
Very nice video. thank you. was looking for one and i think you gave helped me with that…. thanks for your videos …
Great video for us amateurs.
I'm pretty new to ARs. I have a UTG 3X magnifier. The eye relief is terrible. The thing is, because I never used any other magnifier, I didn't know if this was just because it was a pretty cheap magnifier, or if all magnifier's eye relief was bad. Thanks for mentioning that this is a problem with all of them. You just saved me $200!
Eather VorTex improved the flip mount of you have not found out it can be lowered out of your view. I just discovered this after using the 3X mag or several days. I did a push on the button and moved in over. I then decided to move it back. When I pressed the button my hand slipped and it swung down fully out of my view. WHAT! yep, it can move fully out of your line of sight or just off to the side as most know about. Hope this helps. Also, I mount it to flip to the left. That is the button is facing me. Kiss the forward assist and stop crying about it. Too much? Sorry I got carried away. Peace.
The diff in primary arm platinum is the are first focal plane. I believe the one u have is 2nd therefore when u zooming ur reticle also gets larger 1st focal will not do that
What's a good magnifier for the Romeo 5, the vortex 3t or spend the money on the juliet 3x-4x? Or if there is another good option?
it is all about what you want ,me i have shoot with a strike eagle and a razor and they are okay ,if that what you want from a person who can buy any optic that they want i went with the holsum 515 solar miltary grade and a sightmark 7 power pro mag ,no val scope can mess with the combo
I've got the halo sun red dot it is awesome !!!
Could you let us see the difference in red dot and magnification !!!!! 😕
Green dot took care of my Stigmatism problem
Good concise guide!
Short eye relief pushes a magnifier out of consideration for me.
I run a vortex strike fire II with the vortex 3x magnifier on my Springfield saint free float. Love the setup. Great price and warranty
Old vid, but they were out then. There are red dots with drop reticles. EOTech has a both a calibrated 2 dot and 4 dot, holosun has ACSS reticle, etc.
Regrets if I missed it in the chain of comments… I'm pretty new to shooting and hoping to get started into hunting with my boys….
Really digging the primary arms entry level 1-6× ACSS. Trying to use that for the new AR 15, and my AR 10. I know you mentioned platinum premium editions at $1000+ but that's outside the budget. Was really leaning towards the entry level version at $300. Any concerns with that one from an experts perspective?
Also, trying to figure out the difference between the primary and secondary focal plane besides the $100-$200. Any insight on that as well?
Vortex 3x, manufacturer claims 2.2 inches eye relief, but I've seen like 5 reviews by major gun channels where they claim 3.5 inchs eye relief?
