Congrats bud, you just committed a crime…and a felony at that. You've made a SBR (Short barreled rifle). You didn't destroy the firearm, you cut the barrel. Granted you cut through the gas tube so it may not feed the second round after firing but none the less, its a SBR. Enjoy the ATF investigation and your stay in jail. Oh, and if you want to actually do "something" to help…maybe we should all recognize it isn't the tool used that we should blame but the people using them. I'd be willing to bet your rifle has never shed blood as the vast majority haven't. Just like when a drunk driver kills someone and we blame the driver and not the car, we need to blame the people using the firearms or weapons and not the weapons themselves. When we actually start to correctly place blame on the real problem, we stop taking attention away from the real problem and we can start addressing how to effectively make a change that WILL work. Until then, you're contributing to the issue by drawing more attention to the weapon and not the people who commit these crimes. Thus, you're part of the problem.
