In this video, I’m testing my Eotech HWS to see if the reports of zero shift under extreme temperatures are true, and to see if that issue is sufficiently grave as to warrant a switch to a different sight.

Great video. I've been considering getting an EoTech for some time now. Thank you for taking the time to do this in a very natural and gradual way!
On a side note, who makes your leather belt? Looks like it was made from a 1903 sling? Looks B.A.
Outstanding video, very informative. Semper Fi
That is by far the coolest finish I've ever seen! Go bucks!
Good video, but it's important to note that this is one of the slightly older EOTech models. The thermal drift, as it was, really only affected the 553 and similar generations. The newer model, the XPS has fixed this issue. And actually, testing out of Crane a couple months ago showed that the new EOTech models have the least thermal draft of any Red Dot type sight currently on the market. I can't say I've experienced it personally, as overseas I was issued an Acog, however I did hear of some other guys in my ao who did have some issues with their EOTech. That's sad, but I tend to think that the entire issue as some kind of catastrophic failure might have been a little bit overblown, but I guess when you're dealing with a military of hundreds of thousands of members even a few percentage malfunctions here and there could cost lives, so it might have been worth a technical fix on the grand scale.
I really enjoyed you testing for the Eotech HWS. I must admit, the bullets stayed in the center area better than I expected. Great shooting. I appreciate your testing and the results.
I have owned a surplus military eotech 553 for about 4-5 years and I've never had any shift at all.
But mine hasn't been out in freezing weather either, it has been very reliable and I love it.
Sometimes eye protection…sometimes not so much. 🤓 Good video, though! Your results were just about exactly what I predicted.
Great video thank you always great and informative
Awesome video
Great video!! I have to say , I have no interest in the equipment but was thoroughly fascinated to see what the outcome would be. Thanks for the hard work in pulling it off! BTW, that's a pretty cool belt you've got!
Very nice video! I feel very good about deploying the EoTech as a primary home-defense/shtf optic.
It's impossible to get the real story for things like this. You can never tell how much of it is legit, and how much of it is blown out of proportion by fans of other brands. The only way to find out for sure is to do it yourself and see what happens.
I took the Eotech buy back due to a video by Nutnfancy's review of the Holosun. I love their sights especially the solar panel. If you have light you have a sight. The military found thermal shift with as much as 1 yard (3 feet) @100 yards. That was really too much for any confidence. However, your test look really great…..when did you buy your Eotech? I'm wondering if they've found a way to solve the governments concerns on thermal shift………excellent shooting on your part.
interesting 10 month project!! thanks!
This is also a good test of how your barrel reacts under different temps. All very consistant.
Cool video. Thanks for the effort and sharing the results.
Anyone who would mock your grouping should know that the AE XM193 ammo isn't match grade ammo and, as you mentioned, you're not using a magnified optic and I know all too well how a red dot doesn't give perfection especially with an orange target. I'm also a longtime EoTech owner and haven't had any issues. An amazing reticle, rugged & proven — I don't plan to get rid of mine.
Another good video.im a aimpoint kinda guy…lol…thank you.
Okay, now try it at 500 yards! (Just kidding…). Great job as always!!! Love the look of the rifle.
Great test, thanks for sharing.
Just about what I expected. I have used an Eotech for several years. Good test though.
Thanks Hr Funk I Remember You Building That Rifle I Love The Paint Scheme Camo Pattern Eotech Sight Seems Pretty Reliable And Dependability is a Must For Me 😎👍🏼 Keep Up The Great Topics n Videos You Have 1 Of the Best Channels On YouTube Hr Funk 😊👍🏼
Very nice test. But do consider that EOTech makes a variety of holographic sights using different power sources. (You don’t mention your model) For example, the results of testing one Chevrolet vehicle model cannot be applied to all Chevrolet models. However, I suspect all EOTech sights are very accurate, even under extreme conditions, and that the rumors are unfounded. Nice job on the video. Great effort.
Who did the camera job on your rifle sir? It looks very professional and I would love to do the same pattern on my rifle.
agreed and then add the abuse factor
Very Cool test and i learned a lot about how well Eotech sights hold up to the elements.
I find one advantage of a 1x power red dot sight is I can quickly and accurately shoot with both eyes open. Additionally, for more precise shooting off the bench I find a dimmer brightness level on the sight helps my accuracy. I really enjoy your videos, keep them coming!
Maybe in the sandbox and under battle conditions it may have occurred , I see you are holding your own with weight , I lost 110 lbs. and have zero issues with my life style change all you have to have is dedication
I have the same model sight on a sig 516 that has been there for 4 years and at 100 yards it only varies when I change ammo , I have not had any drift either
