Here is my range review of the CMMG 22LR Conversion bolt that allows you to shoot 22LR rounds out of your AR-15.

Here is the company link… its the second item on the page 🙂

Nice product, easy to install, operate & de-install. In this review I go over all this and compare the differences between the regular AR-15 bolt & the CMMG bolt (and some other stuff).

Lots of folks have been watching my ‘who’s your daddy?” vids & many have asked for me to do a review of the CMMG conversion bolt & mag. Well here it is.

🙂

Take care & God bless,

Steve

  1. I have mountains of 22lr ammo from my old 22lr that I had sold but recently I've been looking for a good 22lr in the $300 range for me to plink around with the kids and didn't even think about a 22lr conversion for my AR until now…duhh. Its a no brainer.

  2. I was just reading about "carbine williams" (already forget his real name) and along with the short stroke piston system, he designed a "floating chamber" system for "reliably shooting .22 ammo out of full sized barrels".  I guess this is it lol.  Invented it while in prison.

  3. I bought a Bravo for my Dad for Christmas.  We used milk carton .22 Federal jacketed.  It failed to seat and cycle properly for the first few rounds, but then it cranked out a couple runs of ten while plinking with no issues at all.  What amazed me was the accuracy.  I didn't expect it to be as accurate as my old Mossberg .22 bolt guns, but it was dead on to about 50 yards.  That really surprised me.  As hard as it is to get .22 in any quantity at a fair price right now we din't burn through a lot of it, but we shot enough to know.  Worth the money.  IMO.

One thing I wondered, and my Dad voice was that a kit like that for .22 magnum would be a real plus.  I shoot .22 mag for varmint to about 100 yards out of my break single.  A semi auto to handle them would be awesome. I don't trust the LRs to drop a medium size critter much past 50 yards.

  4. Are there Brands of the .22LR which tend to not cycle through the AR-15 to .22LR conversion well?
Based on your experience can you recommend some brands of .
22LR  that you have used that work well?  thank you

  5. The good ting about coming from a military background is you learn to take care of your weapon first. Before you eat or sleep your rifle gets cleaned. Especially in the combat arms so investing some time to clean the rifle is nothing new.

  6. I would think that would depend on the barrel of the weapon, as there is significantly different pressure created from say a .22lr to a 223 round and again from a standard 223 round to a 5.56 mill spec ball round, with the later the rule of thumb is that you can fire generally speaking any .223 round in a 5.56 chambered/barreled weapon but you should not generally fire 5.56 rounds through a .223 chambered weapon. I would have to assume that a 5.56 or even a .223 in a 22lr barrel is a no go.
