I do some shooting with the new 300 lumen TLR-1s, compare it to the 160 lumen model as well as a D cell Maglite at night, and give a general overview of the light.

  1. I'm jumping on a G17 MOS. So, I ordered a safariland 6354 DO ALS holster. I got it for the protective cover for optic, but they only make one that has a flashlight slot. So, I said what the hell, and just ordered a TLR1 300 Lumens after watching this video. I was told to go with RMR 3.25 moa for home defense. What u think? 3.25 or 6.5 rmo2?

  2. What is the difference between the battery switch door's they offer? One has a safety off feature, what exactly does that entale? I notice it is more expensive than the other offering

  3. Thanks for the review my friend.  I just received this today in the 300 lumen model.  Looking forward to testing it.  Purchased from LA Police Gear – $104.00 free shipping.  Take care.

  4. Holy cow… got me a tlr-1s…. its amazing! Never thought a weapons light could be so powerful. Its "almost" too bright for in the home lol. then again training to not self blind is crucial lol. Also the controls really are in a nice spot. I can see why you love it so much now. Couldnt imagine ever considering anything brighter for home defense though.

  5. Mr.gunsandgear, very heavily considering getting this model my question to you is do you have any idea at all how many rounds you have put through the tlr1s? I'm looking for a light that's going to last me a long time I know the TLR 1 Series is a very good light just want to know if you have any idea how much you've shot with yours

  6. Ive been looking on the interwebs a bit and speaking with my fellows as well. I cannot seem to find a fool proof way to keep the lens from turning grey after firing. I have recently switched from the tlr-1 to this model and carry it daily on a Glock 21 SF. Training leaves me cleaning two items after each session. I have even tried Pam cooking spray since it works so good on the front of cruisers and headlights to clean bugs off easily. Is there anything you have come across that could be applied but that will not haze the beam? Thanks and great review.

  7. I'm looking at buying one of these used so I called Streamlight today. Anything with a serial number above 120xxx will be a 300 Lumen model. There where only a couple thousand 300 lumen versions made with sn below 120xxx.

Thanks for the great video and helpful comparison!

  8. Sorry if I missed it, but does the higher lumen Streamlight use up the batteries substantially faster, or has there been an improvement in LED technology that allows the higher lumen output with essentially the same battery life as the lower output model? If the latter is the case, then all other things being equal, the higher lumen model would seem to be the better deal.

  9. Absolutely it would be sufficient for that use. I personally prefer tailcaps on my rifle lights but lots of folks like to run rocker lights on their rifles and this light would hold up just fine. I have done review on the 630 lumen version as well if you're interested in more lumens at a similar price point.

  10. Would you recommend this for an AR-15 light for patrol use? I work day shift so my primary need would be for building clearing, not outdoor use. Trying to determine if 300 lumen would be sufficient for that function.
