Hand tight the flash hider is timed perfect. So I still need to go all the way around to get it timed correctly and tightened to spec?
Thank you!
I noticed the plates from New Hampshire I live in Strafford thanks for the video
The gunsmith I used only got it to about 10 degrees of vertical, which drives my OCD crazy. Will that cause a noticeable issue when shooting?
Crush washers😡😝
Timing nuts 👊💯
Video was perfect thank you!
So why does backing off and retightening not ruin the crush washer but timing it to the correct spot does?
Perfect. I got a muzzle device that needs timing and as a total noob to installing AR components, this was concise and to the point. Thanks for the info!
Simple and to the point with no bullshittery. New Subscriber so thank you!
I used to use crush washers. Until I found out how easy it is for jamnuts. Jam nut is the best way.
Fun fact: School of the American Rifle did a great video on bench blocks to clamp an AR15 receiver. The thing ot note here is that the barrel is NOT supported here by anything other than the pin and upper receiver. These can fail under high torque.
Using a device like the Midwest Industries "Upper Receiver Rod" engages the barrel lugs itself to prevent rotation and prevents the torque force on the muzzle device from being transferred to the upper receiver itself.
Was looking for this. Wanted to know the orientation of the crush washer. Thanks
Where do i buy the vice block for the ar15???????
By using light sandpaper, you can lightly knock off a few thousandths of an inch of the flat side of the crush washer until you reach the final quarter turn at hand tight. Then tighten to zero with a wrench. This will prevent damage anywhere along the barrel. This is how I do it and how I will always do it.
So no need for Rockset when using a crush washer?
Thanks neckbone!
Tighten, loosen, tighten, loosen, tighten until you’re about a quarter to half turn
Btw, I’ve seen index pin break off.
And what happens when your barrel extension de torques? Geissle make a reaction rod that prevents that
Thank you for this video, Very clear and to the point.
I’m an engineer.. great video. Easy to follow with the information I need
Idk if i did it correct or not but whem you said "do a 25% turn" i went ahead and did a whole full turn and stopped where when it was aligned. So basically i hand tightened then i grabbed my wrench and went a whole full turn not just the 25 you said, is that okay?
Always love these kinds of videos. Explaining why things need to be the way they are and straight into the installation. Compared to other videos where a simple subject like this will be turned into a 45 minute video with only 2 minutes being about the actual subject.
Where can I buy that wrench?
Perfect! My muzzle brake has a very small mounting surface, so I wondered if I should flip the washer. Answered that quick lol!
You dont need to get a brand new crush washer every time you take your A2 birdcage off. As long as it gets a reasonable amount of tourqe going back on its just fine as it is not under huge stress in normal operation. Might be differend on other devices and if you use a suppressor that mounts to the A2 id recomment replacing the washer every time. But just the A2 alone is never coming off because you didnt replace the washer.
Crush washer cone forward or backwards?
Best!
Everything is ok except vise. You're clamping upper receiver but not the barrel itself. You can damage barrel bed on upper receiver. You need action rod or what people use to call them.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Helped a lot.
Great video!! I was confused about which way the crush washer went. Very clear instructions.
Thank you for making a short video. I hate long instruction video's.
Thanks for the easy to follow clear instructions, got my muzzle brake installed!
is this supposed to be tight to the barrel or loose, i have one for a 9mm pistol but the washer sits very loose and has nothing to push against till i get to the front of the weapon which i couldn't tread the muzzle break enough for
Do you recommend using grease like molibidenium on the muzzle threads?
Huh? Concave facing the muzzle device. Okay. Easy. And the small side facing the shooter…. Wait…. But I thought the concave side….
Well shit… I've been placing those damn crush washers on backwards for 20 years.
If this video helped you maybe subscribe.. idk 😂😂😂
👍
Perfectly spent 4:08 minutes :-).
Thank you!
Do you use any Loctite with a Crush Washer?
