Hello, I have noticed that with some scopes, when I turn the parallax from 20 to infinity, the POI (point of impact) shifts vertically (up or down) during 100-meter (91-yard) zeroing. The shift is around 8–10 cm. Why does this happen?
I zeroed my rifle at 100 meters using 100m parallax. But when I shoot at 900 meters and adjust the parallax to infinity, the POI changes significantly. This makes a big difference in long-range accuracy.
This is not related to shooter error or head position — it happens even from a stable shooting rest. Is this due to optical design tolerances or mechanical shifts in the internal lens system?
I couldn’t find a video that clearly explains this issue. Is there a way to calculate or predict this POI shift caused by changing the parallax setting?
I am surprised you haven't mentioned that the diopter is default at "full focus" or whatever it is that creates black rings around the scope when looking into it at full zoom.

I have a fixed scope without an adjustable diopter. Is there any means of attaching a universal diopter over the eye-piece so I do not have to use my glasses?
Whats the point in fine tuning it if you can crank it all the way down? im new to guns and fully tightened mine just in case i just want to know if this negatively effects anything. Because mine looks fine fully tightened.

Then leave a witness mark so you can easily see if it gets bumped out of proper adjustment. Or cover with scope cap 😊
