With so many options for the AR platform in .223/5.56, sometimes variances in production by different manufacturers can have an effect on the use of a .22 Conversion kit. Here, we show you a tip for a quick fix that will only cost you a quarter.

Thanks for the tip. Your conversions allow for a lot of inexpensive fun.
So what if… Instead of shimming with a quarter each time you want to use your .22 conversion, you epoxied/JB-welded a slug from a metal electrical box directly to the back of the "carrier?" That way, it's always there and is essentially free.
If you need to add a spacer that means your buffer spring is no longer as strong as its supposed to be or it was a cheaply made spring.
Get a springCo spring.
Dont do that go just buy a 22 rifle.
Did anyone else notice the forward grip was loose?
Love me my Bravo conversions – Just remember, they want to run just a titch "wet". Let 'em get too dry, and I find they get "sticky". And don't use the mag as a grip or support point… Guaranteed to jam if you do that.
I've been wanting to get a 22lr conversion kit but there are so many different types I'm not sure if one is better or worse than the other or what comparability issues I may encounter. If the only issue is a longer/shorter bcg what's with all the different versions.
My conversion bolt got completely frozen stuck in the receiver. Had to beat it out with a hammer and chisel, been too scared to try it out on any of my other Ar's
Will it work with a LAWS folding stock?
I like the conversion kits but made all of mine into dedicated uppers with the proper .222" bore size barrels. If you need good magazines, Blackdog makes cheap magazines that work well. I also recommend the Lightning speed loader.
Cmmg PLEASE come out with a modular. 22lr bolt like bore buddy but out of steel. Frt is SO much fun with 22. A .22lr drum mag would be nice too. Let's make this happen!
Keep it simple FTW
You can make a one size fits all kit by simply including a quarter with the kit. There, problem solved and all it cost you was a quarter.
My first and only 5.56 AR is a CMMG M4 from the pre-Obama era. She's wonderful.
The .22 conversion kit has functioned almost flawlessly ever since I first started using it. I say "almost", because it's seen years of use, and although I can't remember a time it's jammed or failed, I'm sure it's happened a time or two. But it's my preferred plinking gun, especially with a .30cal can on it. So quiet, so nice.
Cheap cop-out … lol only $0.25 to be exact!

I'll have to check my Sofa to see if I have a quarter.🤪
.
I have a armor light AR15 that the .22 conversation kit is a jamomatic in 😅. Well I bought a Franklin armory binary lower and one day I put it on the aemalight upper and wouldn't you know it the 22 kit works great with that lower.
It's like you said the tolerances have a range jand ust like anything else that is made it has a low end range and a high-end range and I guess the Franklin armory lower just fits better in the range that the kit is made to work with. And i of course the aemalight AR cost a lot more than the other one and I'm betting it has to be made just a lil bit different. Even though it's a lil different it's still in that range that works with most of not all ARs because I can still swap the upper and lower around with different one's and they still fit and work.
I was lost for words when I seen what the difference was 😊.
Cool kit. I love mine. Use it all the time.
My CMMG .22 LR Adaptor runs in my DPMS like a Raped Ape.
Thanks blue states banning quarters now.
GunBroker has CMMG Bolt Reliability Kits that have buffer pressure plugs, and other accessories that help a lot too.
I had to do that for a Lakefield Machine Razorback upper to my Colt Lower.
Mil-spec=lowest bidder.
Thanks
My CMMG 22lr conversion bolt works very well in my LRB. But, my stainless conversion bolt does not work reliably.
Your brand is too expensive !
The thing is these conversation kits are not precision setups they are just to make training cheaper… Who cares if you use a shim to make it work… This trick also works with the sooper safety if your running a pistol and it's getting stuck to the rear… I added 2 quarters behind the spring of the buffer and it solved my jamming issue…
Good idear, I might just use a washer the appropriate size.
Just buy a .22 🙄
Great advice. I do have 22 conversation kit and this makes total since.
In the 1970s Army, the M16A1 could be finicky feeding blank 5.56mm rounds. Wrapping your thumb around the back of the mag and fingers around the front of the mag well, thus holding the mag against the front wall of the mag well fixed the problem.
